iPhone 12 issues with Facetime

I had a recent issue with the Facetime app. My phone has been acting buggy since yesterday whenever I open up Facetime. Yesterday night, the Facetime app quit unexpectedly but left my iPhone completely unusable-the buttons on the left and right of the iPhone would not work for long or short clicks and I was only able to shut off my phone by waiting for my phone's screen to turn off, clicking the up and down volume buttons rapidly and then clicking on the power button so I could slide the power off slider. Upon restarting, my apps were ordered differently, my FaceTime app said "Waiting for activitation" and my Macbook didn't send messages through my phone number but through my apple ID. Not a big deal, was able to fix that up in no time but I was praying for no more bugs. Called on FaceTime again today in the morning and my phone hit me with a black screen with a white loading symbol after talking for 5 minutes. The phone restarted again and it seemed to work fine again. The only issues I am having right now is with the Facetime app-it is continually buggy on both my MacBook 13" 2019 and iPhone 12. Does anyone have any issues with Facetime and the iPhone 12? For now, I'm trying to isolate my iPhone usage to apps other than Facetime to see if that if the app is the sole reason for software issues. If not, then it might just be an issue with the phone which I will return promptly to my carrier.

Hello Earth240,

It sounds like your FaceTime app is causing issues with your iPhone. We understand the importance of making sure your device is running smoothly and we're here to help.

First, let's go ahead and delete the app. You can then reinstall it and test to see if the issue persists. This article should be able to help: Delete built-in Apple apps from the Home screen on your iOS 14 or iPadOS device or Apple Watch

If the issue persists after completing this step, can you provide a few mode details? Which iOS version do you currently have installed? Was your device set up as new or restored from a backup? Also, do you currently have a backup of your device?

Cheers!
