I just upgraded to Big Sur. My Epson printer Stylus Photo 1400 apparently doesn't have a compatible driver. Are they any plans to work with EPSON to have new drivers? The printer works great and I don't want to ditch it because of the new MacOS.

The European support site has information about the Epson Software updater and Uninstall Center only, when choosing macOS 11 (Big Sur) as the operating system:

The Epson Singapore support page on the other hand has a Big Sur driver:

Apparently, this driver, Ver.1.12 (03-2014) is used for earlier operating system versions as well.
Going back to the European site, with macOS 10.15 (Catalina) chosen as the operating system, there is a 1.14 (04-Jan-2021) driver:

So, you may have to check what the operating system or the Epson Software updater offers to begin with (after having reset the printing system, and re-added the printer). Otherwise, you may want to try one or more driver downloads. You should look upon this as an experiment. Software conflicts cannot be ruled out. You may have to erase and reinstall everything on the computer. Data can be lost. So, do not proceed unless you know what you are doing. Also, make sure that you have multiple backup copies of important files before doing anything at all.

Me to I have Epson rx 560. Apple have no idea just passed me on to epson who passed me back to Apple. They both tell me to use AirPrint. Fine but I don’t have AirPrint. No timescale either. Hopeless!
Mine wasn't recognised for 2 days but it downloaded the drivers automatically after 2 days. My printer is an Epson DX4750 which is quite old.

I am sure that you could ask any questions in English. However, if necessary, Google Translate can be quite useful. You could copy and then paste a text into the window on the left hand side. Alternatively, one can paste a URL there, and then click on the resulting URL on the right hand side (this will translate an entire web page).

thanks jay.got the link, but no luck its the same driver i had for catalina.v10.85
epson tell me that there is definitely no driver for the rx560. they could not explain why in italy some have got it to work.
oh well just have to wait or get a new printer.

Do you mean HP LaserJet Pro 200 color?
If so, there are two models (HP LaserJet Pro 200 Color MFP M276n and HP LaserJet Pro 200 Color MFP M276nw) mentioned in About AirPrint - Apple Support as printers supporting the driverless AirPrint technology. Is your printer one of these (please note the exact model, including suffix)? An AirPrint printer can be used without drivers (when connected to a network). Software from the printer manufacturer may or may not add functionality. In the case of the models above, there is a reference to HP Easy Start on the HP support pages.
There are also M251 and M275 models.

What I get is: No Printers are Available. Click+ to add a printer. When I do that, I see my printer listed...but it doesn't get added successfully.
Which Gutenprint driver did you install? I have Epson XP-400 which isn't responding. Seeing quite a lot of printer issues in the questions here.
They released a driver for the R2400 on 2020-11-18 which is for macOS 11.x on their site.
