Automatic device switching not working

I have a MBP 16", an iPhone 12 and a pair of AirPods Pro. Automatic device switching is not working for me between my Mac and my iPhone. I have all my devices with the same Apple ID and I have my Apple ID with 2FA. I have configured my AirPods Pro Bluetooth settings to Connect Automatically on both my iPhone and my Mac. I have MacOS 11.0.1 Big Sur on my Mac, iOS 14.2 on my iPhone and firmware 3A283 on my AirPods Pro. I tried restarting both my Mac and my iPhone, unpairing and pairing again my AirPods Pro. Other sharing features like the shared clipboard or opening a Safari tab from my iPhone in my Mac are working for me. I would appreciate if anyone can point me in the right direction with this. This was the sole reason why I upgraded to Big Sur and isn't working :(

Same. I use my MacBook at work with Big Sur, and will commonly have my AirPods connected to the MacBook. I will then take the headphones out and put them down to answer a call, then put the AirPods back in, and I hear the 'connection' sound, but it has not connected to the MacBook that it was previously connected to. It connected to my iPhone, which I haven't touched. I know I can set to connect to last device, but automatic should take care of this for me!


I have also had the issue where I am using the AirPods on the MacBook, get a call and answer on my phone, and it transfers, but then go back to my MacBook after phone call is over and the AirPods don't switch back. :/

AirPods not Switching Automatically to Mac


FINALLY was able to update my new MacBook Pro to MacOS Big Sur with the promise of automatic switching between devices for my airpods.


Unfortunately it only works between my iPad and iPhone. I can also connect manually my AirPods to my Mac by clicking it under “sound” and it transfers TO my iPhone BUT the audio connection doesn’t go back to my Mac.


Anyone else experiencing this? Do we know the fix?
