I am experiencing issues with my keyboard after updating to Big Sur yesterday, it seems to have mind of it's own, typing anything is a challenge as I have to recheck every key stroke, and it seems to effect every key randomly even the space bar!...is anyone experiencing anything similar?

What exact Mac is this?
Internal keyboard / external keyboard?
Have you rebooted?
have you tried resetting NVRAM/PRAM hthttp://support.apple.com/kb/ht1379 ?
Try a SafeBoot https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201262
Takes noticeable longer to get to the login screen, does a 5-15 minute disk repair before it fully boots up, and certain system caches get cleared and rebuilt, including dynamic loader cache, etc. Login and test. Reboot and test as caches get rebuilt.
In Safe mode third party system modifications and system accelerations are disabled, it removes malware, etc hampering smooth operation, however a reboot will put it back to normal mode.
Same problem on my 2019 16" with Big Sur 11.0.1. Keyboard lag via the built-in keyboard in all modes (normal, safe mode, single user mode). No peripherals connected. Clean install. There was another comment here about safe mode being nearly usable that I can also attest to. I wish I had known about these issues before I upgraded.

I guess we have to wait for the next OS release hoping it will address the problem. In the meantime i am also trying to figure out why starting up my iMac is like -> i go make my coffee, bake cookies and still the desktop icons isn't there....And that on an iMac (Retina 4K, 21.5-inch, 2017) purchased in March 2018 with 3.6 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7, 32 GB 2400 MHz DDR4, and Radeon Pro 560 4 GB( Fusion Drive 1TB) I did try all resets, reboots etc. but nothing helped and all that once i upgraded to Big Sur. If the next OS release doesn't fix the problem i guess i just have to clean instal Big Sur.. and thought the PC world had such issues....

Strangely it only occurred on the built-in keyboard for me, so I had been working with an external keyboard as a workaround.
same thing happening here to me on my Imac since downloading Big Surexcept i have a corded non-BT DasKeyboard and only seems to be affecting certain apps like imessage. super delays in typing . but not all is like this. for example no issues typing in Chrome browser right now. wierd!
Thanks! I had this problem with my 16" MacBook Pro and an external Magic Keyboard. The "Reset the bluetooth module" didn't fix it for me, but the "Factory reset all connected Apple devices" worked like a charm! I wasn't aware of the clicking of the bluetooth icon while holding down SHIFT + OPTION, so big thank you for this!

Update: after a happy few days in Catalina, I decided to upgrade to Big Sur and the keyboard lag issue is back!

Hey there. When I push shift, I don’t have the reser Bluetooth module? Thoughts.
I spoke to soon....I spent 2 hours with apple yesterday, and while grateful to have the help, I still have the same issue...what I've noticed is that, whichever screen I am working (or viewing) there is a "fade in fade out" every 10 seconds..even the apple techie could see this live, every time I happen to be typing during the "fade out" phase, the key does not register....so I have to go back checking all my entries, I's driving me nuts! The apple techie got me to reinstall Big Sur...no change the intermittent fade is still there...so back to apple again...if you have a touch bar on your mac this is very obvious as every ten seconds it will switch off and then switch back on!!!
me!!! it space bars on its own, adds charters i dont want back space doesn't work, I choose not to correct this as I typed so you can see what is opening. son frustrating. what do i doo????

Quick update here: the problem returned for me. Twice.
I repeated the procedure and it fixed the problem again, but it keeps coming back, apparently.
