Using Bluebeam Revu for Mac on Big Sur

Hi - Until Big Sur, I was able to run the (no longer supported) Mac version of Bluebeam Revu on my Mac (Catalina). Now it just crashes and Bluebeam told me it would no longer work. Bluebeam stopped supporting Revu for Mac earlier this year.

Is there any chance that Apple would release an update to Big Sur that would allow this software to run again?

Otherwise I'll be looking into Parallels or Bootcamp to try to run the Windows version of Revu.

Many thanks.

Hi everyone - I just downloaded v. 1.9 from the following link:

It still runs! Depending on your needs, this may do the trick. It remembered my license info from when I bought it, and I was able to import my saved toolboxes. Thanks again to cometbjm for this suggestion!

I switched from windows and Bluebeam is the only thing connecting me to windows; just as I feared. I would love to find a replacement and looking into Stack. Bluebeam gave me ulcers in windows and is now worse running through parallels. Constant crashing and I wince making any action in a large file before it crashes.

Price tags ****** me off, but my worthless time is worth more than the hours I've spent looking for a "workaround" to ditch Bluebeam and finally windows for good.

Running parallels feels masochistic to me when I was excited to try my first Mac after being a lifetime iPhone and iPad user but working daily on a PC. I like the OS, but these window "ties" are frustrating. I also don't want to support a company (Revu) that has no intent on supporting us. Their iPad app is a joke. And who at Revu decided to put their eggs in the PC/windows desktop world but Apple mobile/iPad world?

Welp I'm back to 720p today because of 11.1 update messing up display settings on LG 43" monitor and using binoculars backwards. Oh, and did I mention using Bluebeam with this awesome setup!? Through parallels, it crashed/closed 4 times last night and twice already today while trying to NAVIGATE a 100 page plan set. Haven't even checked it out from project yet since that seems to make it worse. Eventually I'll load the plans enough and finally get page labels made, and then maybe do some takeoffs before I drive 30 minutes and pick up a hard set of plans and do a full takeoff. Our construction "tools" these days are so time saving!

"...don't hold your breath" or you'll turn Blue!? THAT'S how they came up with the name and it took me this long to figure that out! I'm embarrassed.

I always had iOS devices but forced to work with windows desktops for 20 years. I was and still am excited with my new MBP and enjoy learning everything about it. Don't get me wrong, I do curse at it occasionally and questions Apples future whereas I hadn't in the past. I started with On Screen Takeoff (~$3,500 at the time; spendy!) for takeoffs and then switched to Bluebeam when it first came out since it worked better for me as a project manager integrating all my PDF job files, and sharing with subcontractors. It was also easier for me to share my quantity takeoffs with field superintendents along with keeping their plan sets up to date. But never did I leave my office thanking Bluebeam. Ever. I'm sure I have had at least one snag every time I've clicked that "R" icon. I went through multiple PC's including high end engineering hardware, multiple Revu versions, and multiple migraines.

Different topic, sorry, but sort of related to Bluebeam since I used the Add-In for MS Outlook. I always loved Outlook. But then they had to "Windows 10 it" and that destroyed the speed on two different PC's for me. Switching from Calendar to Mail took longer than descaling the Keurig. Want to preview a file attachment in an email? Put your helmet on or leave and go descale. Want to drag and drop an attachment from email to file explorer to save it there? Might as well grab a gun instead. The Outlook app runs great on my MBP, seriously. And of course it would run better here than on a windows based machine it was designed for??? The Outlook old version though. I can't stand the new version. I can get past the icons, but it uses more space or displays less on screen. I.g. I can't view as many folders on the side tab without scrolling. Also screwed up the "move" shortcut and I can't find "Categories" anymore. I use those for colors to differentiate or categorize appointments. Calendar is the same on viewing; I feel it shows less detail or characters on appointments. I dislike MS if you couldn't tell.

A co-worker always used Mac and ran parallels to do 90% of his work. That seemed a little too fanboy'ish for me. Also a little too redundant for me to make the switch since we had multiple work issued and required windows software to use. I left there and run my own small business and finally decided to make the switch to Mac. Bluebeam is my only cord to Windows I can't cut yet. But I won't go back. I have a dell laptop that sits on my home office desk. It has Revu, but no thanks. It may crash 10-20% less there. I like the MBP too much and haven't turned on the Dell other than to unregister my Revu account : )

I think I'll spend my ~$1k/time on a new takeoff software and wait for you to tell me when Bluebeam is online ready. lol. My takeoff requirements these days are basic compared to what they used to be, and I don't need their studio/project to share files. Plenty of other better options for that.

Cheers!
