Snooze Calendar Notifications in Big Sur

How do you snooze calendar notifications more than the default 5 min?

In Catalina, you could long-press the Snooze button and get a choice as to how long the notification was snoozed. I tried it in Big Sur and I don't get the list.

I noticed this also and called Apple support. Apparently, this is the new design. I think it makes the Calendar app both useless and irritating. I have complained to the support person and also submitted a complaint online. For example, my wife set up a calendar event for November 16th for herself with a two day alert. This morning I started receiving (since we share a calendar) calendar notice for this event. I can make it snooze for the standard 15 minutes, but of course it comes back, and back, and back. No way to tell it to wait until, say, 2 hours before the event. This is so irritating that I am gong to rollback to Catalina. I can't believe that someone did this. WHY?

Yes, this is a big deal and needs to be changed. The way it was in Catalina was great. Very frustrating if you are a working professional. Might have to go the Office for Mac, which I have on my Mac as well, but have learned to prefer the Apple separation of applications such as Mail, Reminders, and Calendar. But if they do not make the change, then I will have to go to Office, because it is way to invasive and annoying as it is now.

Everybody should submit feedback about this crazy change via: https://www.apple.com/feedback/

In my support session with Apple, the rep finally said "I completely understand, we are working on future updates to fix this issue". So I am hopeful they are looking at it, but if you want it prioritized we need to make some NOISE! Be polite, but tell them just how much this affecting your productivity and trust of Apple's software. :)

Not only is the new snooze a nightmare but the email notifications **** too. Why can't I one click delete instead of having to open a secondary options menu to do that? Everything about notifications in Catalina was *vastly* superior to Big Sur. It also is a downgrade on iOS 14.

Surely there must be a fix?

For some illogical reason Apple removed this feature in Big Sur. I just conformed this with Apple Support and they said there's no specific plan to replace it.

The best we can do is complain at

www.apple.com/feedback

If enough of us complain, it might do some good.

Personally, I am furious they removed this great feature and if there is no sign from them that they plan to fix this soon, I'm going back to Catalina.

Yes. This is an incredibly frustrating reduction in functionality. It's a Mac, not an iPhone. Making the two look similar is one thing. Reducing the feature set of one to match the other is quite another and is incredibly stupid. If I wanted to use an iPhone or iPad for a computer I would have. But I along with everyone else here bought a Mac and expect it to behave like a Mac. That includes things like changing the snooze options. You can submit feedback here: https://www.apple.com/feedback/calendar.html

I know it is not the best answer and I completely agree that Apple screwed up with this change but in the interim, until they fix this, take a look at Calendar 366 II. https://apps.apple.com/us/app/calendar-366-ii/id1265895169?mt=12.

It is only $15 from the Mac App Store. One time purchase, no subscription. I really like it and gives you back the ability to snooze the calendar notifications. You'll want to turn off the native calendar notifications so you don't get duplicate notices but otherwise a great app. Way better than Fantastical and NO subscription. Fantastical has gotten too big for its britches...leaving room for others to come in and fill the void.

I'm not sure that they do professional usability testing now. They had the developer, followed by public betas, but that doesn't guarantee that somebody with a clue about UX was taking a critical look at the interaction of the new system. It certainly doesn't feel that way. it's an extraordinarily poorly designed UI. I had it on a second APFS volume, which I'm really grateful for. It made it really easy to delete without having to lose any of my data or have to go through the process of reinstalling Catalina. I'll be staying on Catalina until I see some significant fixes put in place. There's a good write up on some of the other problems related to notifications - not the problem of snooze options disappearing - that really shows just how poorly thought out the new UI is: https://tyler.io/240-invisible-pixels/

Please provide Apple feedback using their feedback form. Please do it for any of the products you use. It's the only way they'll know what we want changed: https://www.apple.com/feedback/

My understanding of the communities is that Apple staff does not monitor these. They are specifically for users. The only way I know of to get their attention on things is for enough people to send feedback. Link here: https://www.apple.com/feedback/.

Everyone on this thread PLEASE send feedback to get this functionality reinstated. Won't hold my breath, but ya never know.

Two options to consider:
1) Apple no longer reads any of the user input here. As a longtime user, there was a time when Apple would steadfastly delete any comments that were critical or negative toward Apple. I'm shocked that these comments have stayed up as long as they have so perhaps Apple just doesn't read them anymore.
2) Apple does read these comments but doesn't care.
Not sure which is worse.

No, Apple doesn't read the comments here for feedback or suggestions. They never have. This is not a feedback site. It's a user-to-user technical support forum. If you want Apple to know your thoughts, use the correct method:

Product Feedback - Apple

Apple also doesn't remove posts simply for being critical. Apple removes posts that violate the terms of use. As long as they aren't (excessively) rude or in some other way a violation of the terms to which we all agreed, they will be allowed to stand. This is the way it's been for as long as I've been active in this forum (about 20 years).

Hey guys, I suggest we bombard them with messages at this link:

I wrote something like:

Hello,

I would like the development team to consider this issue as many of us have been using professionally the snooze button for years and now it is affecting us greatly.
