Snooze Calendar Notifications in Big Sur

How do you snooze calendar notifications more than the default 5 min?

In Catalina, you could long-press the Snooze button and get a choice as to how long the notification was snoozed. I tried it in Big Sur and I don't get the list.

No, the manual just says that if the notification has the Options button, click Options then click Snooze. There is no option to long-press Snooze to get different snooze durations. They used to have long-pressing Snooze to get different durations in the Calendar documentation for Big Sur, but they changed the documentation shortly after 11.1 was released. They have removed references to long-pressing which tells you that it isn't a bug; they actually removed the ability to get different snooze durations. Do NOT expect to see it come back with the next release. If you want to see that ability to come back, file Feedback with Apple as they do not check this forum. This forum is strictly user-to-user support. Here is where you can file Feedback: https://www.apple.com/feedback/calendar.html

Hi santiagoe. That's not what everyone here is concerned about. What is missing is the ability to 'snooze' notifications for different length of time (5 mins, 2 hours, 1 day, etc.). This is what is currently missing from Big Sur, but was available on Catalina. With Catalina, if you right clicked the snooze, a drop down menu of times appeared. This doesn't appear in versions of Big Sur so far, but it looks like a beta version might have the feature reinstated.

I agree with the frustrations of this thread 100%. I found this in the Calendar User Guide by going up under "Help" in the menu and typing "snooze."

It says, "If you temporarily dismiss the notification, it reappears in 9 minutes or at the start of the event, whichever is sooner. If you temporarily dismiss the notification after the start time, it reappears in 9 minutes."

At least it provides some explanation of what happens upon pushing the single-option "Snooze" button. It's still stupid because it doesn't take into consideration the user's workflow and preferences - completely ignores it IMO.

Reposting my December 3rd reply which is buried by now. I’m very disappointed in Apple about this. All I can recommend is to send feedback, find a workaround and seek other options.

Also, considering how much this benefits developers, Apple should require them (at least the big devs) to offer this feature.

My post:

I’ve been reading up on this very frustrating issue, and have concluded that this isn’t a bug. I don’t think there’s any intention to fix it-unless enough people complain and it were to impact their long term bottom line. This was known about before release, and it there are a couple of reasons that they found it in their financial self-interest to take away such a useful feature (as small as it is, it was a huge help to me!). Sadly, I’ve slowly seen less “delight” and more disappointment in Apple products over the years. Especially since they could still be very successful without doing this kind of thing that hurts their customers to eke out more dollars.

Anyway, heres how I work around the issue for now. I turn on do not disturb for an hour at a time, and read my notifications when I turn back on. Has actually worked pretty well for me.

Seems that Outlook is better on a PC. My husband loves it on work computer, but I also found that you need a PC for some of the great features. It does look great on his amazing PC display...

Could please give us the path for registering the feedback and a short description of the problem for more impact at Apple? I registered with “beta” and sent them a feedback titled “Snooze Function for Alert Notifications” / Area: “Calendar.” Then, under type of problem, I chose “Suggestion.” Under description I entered “Restore the Snooze function for Alert notifications, as it was in Catalina giving the user the option to select a snooze time span from the desktop. The change in Big Sur is negatively impacting many users as you can verify in various forums..” —- Apple receipt confirmation states: “Recent Similar Reports: None”
“Resolution: Open”

The correct place to submit feedback on released software is here:

You shouldn't be using the beta feedback site for Big Sur unless you are using a beta version.

Initially tried searching Apple Support using "apple calendar snooze options" and got zero hits. Tried same search on Google and got many hits; selection of top of list directed to a different thread on the same exact topic with 1K+ replies. One of those replies had a redirect reply to another thread with 5K+ replies. Searched Communities using "Big Sur calendar alert snooze option" finding numerous like threads with this one being the granddaddy in terms of the number of replies. I haven't gone through all of the replies (only Helpful answers filter) to see if it's already been provided, but here's hyperlink to feedback page specifically for Calendar: https://www.apple.com/feedback/calendar.html. For those that haven't already done so, or maybe did at the more general https://www.apple.com/feedback, strongly recommend completing the quick & easy form specifically for Calendar.
