Snooze Calendar Notifications in Big Sur

How do you snooze calendar notifications more than the default 5 min?

In Catalina, you could long-press the Snooze button and get a choice as to how long the notification was snoozed. I tried it in Big Sur and I don't get the list.

No, the manual just says that if the notification has the Options button, click Options then click Snooze. There is no option to long-press Snooze to get different snooze durations. They used to have long-pressing Snooze to get different durations in the Calendar documentation for Big Sur, but they changed the documentation shortly after 11.1 was released. They have removed references to long-pressing which tells you that it isn't a bug; they actually removed the ability to get different snooze durations. Do NOT expect to see it come back with the next release. If you want to see that ability to come back, file Feedback with Apple as they do not check this forum. This just really stinks especially with how virtual we are these days. I use to have 3-4 events and reminders for a few days on my calendar now it’s like 8-10 per day and the right side of my Mac is just littered with notifications now that I can snooze for certain durations , or I can just close them , then I forget about important things. Might as well just keep the full calendar open in “day” view.

Idris,
OK, let me ask differently: do you use Calendar at all? If so, do you have it alert you about upcoming items on your calendar? How much in advance do you have it alert you? Are there some events that you want an alert well in advance but others, closer to the time?

How is how I use Calendar relevant to this discussion? Why is it if such interest to you?

Agree with all comments. With such a big outcry from so many Apple users for such a long period of time - and no reason given why they don't revert to something that obviously worked so well - just don't understand. It's not like we are asking you to develop something new. Very, very annoying. Each time I see an upgrade to Big Sur, I download and hope that I will see a change to the snooze single option.

I think most of the people who have posted here also gave feedback. I have more than once. This is more of a venting section. This is the first time since I started buying Apple products that I've ever had a problem with one of their operating system upgrades. That is one of the reasons I ended up buying an iPhone, Macbook and watch after decades of fighting Windows glitches but I've had nothing but problems with Big Sur. All kinds of glitches, not being able to close windows and having to restart to get rid of them, my battery says it needs service which only happened after the change to Big Sur and my battery seems fine. I hate it and I'm very disappointed.

Have not read every thread so i dont know if the importance of this missing feature has been stated, but this problem results in me missing meetings, or being late.

What used to happen was, I get an alert 1 hour before, then I snooze it till say 5 minutes before (or whatever time depending on the nature of the meeting). Meeting not missed.

Now what happens is the notice pops up, and I either leave it there permanently but it overlaps on apps I am working in so its very very annoying, OR I click snooze but it keeps popping back every 5 minutes, so eventually I click the x icon and it closes but it does not come back. So meetings are sometimes missed. Big issue.

So as a 15 year plus Mac Calendar user, I now have to source an alternative Mac calendar app which has this feature.

I did the same. Unfortunately I spend the money for BusyCal for niothing, cause as good as the app is, it has antother annoying issue: if you are using spaces in macOS (what I do) the notification window stays in front of any other window when you are not on the first space. So wenever I get a calender notification og BusyCal and I'm in antother space than the first (or call it homescreen) working, I have to interrupt my work and anser this notification to continue even if I click on another window. I wrote to the BusyCal support back and forth and they offer a option in the settings to avoid this behaviour, but it didn't worked in my told usecase (more than one space) and they don't plan to change it.

I'm glad that I'm not the only one, I thought I was missing something.

This isn't the only change that's annoying, another that has caused me multiple problems is in email. I have Conversation Groups, but if I hit reply to one person it often selects the wrong person, (who ever is at the top of the list). So I have to expand the list and specifically select the message.

I'm usually happy with OS upgrades, but I really don't like this. It seems that maybe now Steve has been gone a long time that the attention to detail that was so precious to Apple has passed away with him.
