Snooze Calendar Notifications in Big Sur

How do you snooze calendar notifications more than the default 5 min?

In Catalina, you could long-press the Snooze button and get a choice as to how long the notification was snoozed. I tried it in Big Sur and I don't get the list.

No, the manual just says that if the notification has the Options button, click Options then click Snooze. There is no option to long-press Snooze to get different snooze durations. They used to have long-pressing Snooze to get different durations in the Calendar documentation for Big Sur, but they changed the documentation shortly after 11.1 was released. They have removed references to long-pressing which tells you that it isn't a bug; they actually removed the ability to get different snooze durations. Do NOT expect to see it come back with the next release. If you want to see that ability to come back, file Feedback with Apple as they do not check this forum. This forum is strictly user-to-user support. Here is where you can file Feedback: https://www.apple.com/feedback/calendar.html

This is beyond annoying and makes Big Sur a waste of an update. I've spent hours trying to roll back to Catalina because of this terrible "feature" but I'm unable to roll back. Do you really think Steve Jobs would say this was a great idea? PLEASE fix this in Big Sur like yesterday!

1) No one here knows what Mr. Jobs would have approved of in this case. However, we do know from the historical record that his opinion was usually that he was right and everyone else, including users, was wrong.

2) Apple is not reading here for suggestions. If you want Apple to know your thoughts, use the feedback page:

Note that, just because you give feedback, which Apple does read, it doesn't mean they will change their mind.

To be fair Idris we are now on page 25 of users unhappy about an existing feature (customisable snooze time) being removed.

Which in the grand scheme of the number of Mac users is a very, very small number. Which is why telling Apple where they listen is important. Snarking at them here, while it may have a certain short-term catharsis value, won't accomplish any real change.

PS to Idris: I got it that your comment to “Dot” meant to help her and everyone else to communicate with Apple effectively using the only tool that Apple has put at our disposal to voice complaints, but your snarking at the complainers doesn’t make anyone feel better. Misery likes company and the sense that we’re not alone “snarking at Apple” is in itself of some comfort. Snarking at our companions in woe, is not.

As long as we all remain within the terms of use, we may post as we please. I will give your opinion all the consideration it is due.

Best of luck.

Hi Idris,

I used to be just like you. I knew it all and I was patronizing to anyone who didn't. But thankfully for me and everyone around me, I finally admitted that I really didn't know it all and I developed some humility. Maybe you really do know it all, but if there's the slightest chance that you don't, why not try a little humility and kindness instead of talking down to people.

IdrisSeabright: I am surprised that you don't see the obvious value in posting publicly about this issue here. Every public post about this makes it harder for Apple to ignore that the change negatively affects real users. I did _also_ post to the private Calendar feedback link (which is not what you have linked to), but it's worth re-examining your opinion about why there isn't value in writing here publicly.

My original reply to this is targeted at someone who has the power to fix this issue. You are obviously not that person, and, frankly, you seem like the kind of exasperated Level 10 forums user who I generally avoid, so feel free to simply ignore the reply I've posted here, for the betterment of reading this on page 25 of 25.

It's good they have done something.

I too would like to have the 2 hour interval as well.

I am sure that everyone has their own strategy. I set a default reminder for 1 day before an event and then set the snooze for 2 hours. I would always have preferred a longer interval as well, such as 4 or 6 hours. I would then use a 6 hour snooze when the first alert occurs and then use a shorter interval as I got closer to the event. Still one can't have everything!!

Now I wish they would introduce a decent snooze facility in iOS. It has always been limited.
