Snooze Calendar Notifications in Big Sur

How do you snooze calendar notifications more than the default 5 min?

In Catalina, you could long-press the Snooze button and get a choice as to how long the notification was snoozed. I tried it in Big Sur and I don't get the list.

No, the manual just says that if the notification has the Options button, click Options then click Snooze. There is no option to long-press Snooze to get different snooze durations. They used to have long-pressing Snooze to get different durations in the Calendar documentation for Big Sur, but they changed the documentation shortly after 11.1 was released. They have removed references to long-pressing which tells you that it isn't a bug; they actually removed the ability to get different snooze durations. Do NOT expect to see it come back with the next release. If you want to see that ability to come back, file Feedback with Apple as they do not check this forum. It is my most irritating problem too! It is a huge bug though, not a non existing feature , because in the manual it is still correct. So it should be updated in the next release, normally.

I got the feeling that Apple developers do not use their own system (which was confirmed via telephone, I indeed actually spoke to someone, and they were very helpful), otherwise they would fix it immediately.

I understand that one aspect of the redesign of MacOS was to make it more similar to iOS. This has had the unfortunate effect of adversely changing the Snooze facility in Calendar.

Some years ago when the comparable Snooze facility in iOS was changed (or introduced) I objected strongly, wanting it to be more like Snooze in MacOS at the time. I still don't see whey they can't both be like it used to be.

I wonder how many others objected to the feature in iOS at that time. I certainly sent feedback a number of times but sadly to no avail.

I read recently that Apple were trying to make MacOS and iOS more similar. I am not sure how true this is but their changes to the use of Widgets suggests that this is possible.

If this is so, them maybe they decided to make the Snooze facility the same as in iOS.

I objected long ago that the iOS Snooze was limited but they did not change it. In making the two systems more similar I would have preferred that they change the Snooze in iOS to be like it had been in MacOS.

reply to IdrisSeabright: I registered with Beta and filed a report under Big Sur. I was surprised that the receipt confirmation I received from Apple stated: “Recent similar reports: None.”
Really? The title of the entry was “Snooze function for Calendar Alert Notifications.”

Again, unless you are using a beta version of Big Sur (which we are not permitted to discuss in the public forums), you should be using this link to submit feedback:

What’s the best way to report it? As a Bug, Suggestion, or what? I’m sending them a daily feedback report, under Calendar, Bug, with the subject line: “Snooze Function for Alert Notifications,” with the following issue description: “Alert Notification Snooze timing options is not working in Big Sur the way it worked in Catalina. It has lost all if its functionality. Please fix the bug and restore the snooze options for notifications.”

I doubt that the press would be interested, but Apple should care. For sure it erodes the user’s trust in downloading future system updates. Who knows what is going to be messed up next? That reflects badly on the product.

I’ve been reporting the “bug” as often as time allows. I’ve created a daily repeat Calendar event where I pasted the following:

Report: Bug

Subject: SNOOZE FUNCTION NOTIFICATION OPTIONS

The snooze function no longer works as in Catalina. Please correct the bug to allow the user to set optional snooze notification time delays, as in Catalina. The bug now in play is interfering with productivity and made the function worthless.

Anyone with a better text, please post.

I wonder though if multiple messages from the same person counts...

Good idea! Maybe it's better to do that in Reminders App. At least you can snooze it 😉 (though no custom snooze 😟 )

As for the media attention: shouldn't we make a list of Twitter accounts to cc them? e.g. @MacLife Anybody else?

Any progress on this? Just updated to Big Sur over the weekend and I missed my first meeting today because apparently I dismissed the reminders. The drop down in previous versions to select the next reminder was so helpful.

Please bring it back ASAP.

This is a user-to-user technical support forum. No one here would know what Apple's plans or timeline might be. And, no one here can "bring it back ASAP".

You should let Apple know how important it is to you here:
