I-Phone 12 very poor cellular reception versus I-Phone 11

Temporarily in an area with no Wi-fi so relying on cellular via BT. I-phone 11 has worked perfectly for calls and data and always shows four bars and 4g.

Got new I-Phone 12 on Weds and also shows 4 bars and 4g but no calls or data available. BT have kindly replaced the sim which activated today and I still have the same problem. Phone is a very pretty paperweight.

Anyone got any ideas why newer model won’t work where older one does?

There is something wrong with the antenna. Or it’s not as powerful. Having the same issue here. Already ordered a Samsung apple can have their phone back.

Apple can’t offer me a solution to this so those thinking of purchasing should be aware that the iPhone 12 doesn’t work as well in poor reception areas than the iPhone 11. Caveat Emptor.
