In messages on my mac the Pinned contact has no texting curser block.

Based on what you mentioned, you can's text pinned contacts on in Messages on your Mac. If you see an hourglass icon, you may be restricted from sending and receiving from a specific contact. If you don't see that, try to unpin the contact and re-pin them again.

In this case, try to create a new contact with the same information and check if the new entry can be pinned. If you still have trouble, you may be able to get help where you are when you Contact Apple for support and service.
