Big Sur - Keyboard shortcut key for deleting messages in the Messages app?

NOT liking there is not an "x" to delete specific messages.

Thank you for your help! I was able to get the CMD-D to work - which brings up the dialog box to confirm the deletion or cancel. At that point I tried using CMD-D again to "click" the delete box, but it does nothing... Just wondering if you, or anyone else has found a workaround for clicking the delete box? TIA

If they gave ANY weight to the input from beta users like me and MANY others we wouldn’t be in this boat... I have responded with the feedback app on my Mac regarding several issues I’ve come across and NEVER even received a note back from them... And YES - I did send them a feedback on this very issue like 4 beta releases ago... oh well I (we) tried....

Well, I’m glad it’s working for you. 👍 There are other threads on here that have reported this as an issue. If you can figure out how you managed to make it work, I’m sure many of us would be grateful to get some insight.

I didn't do anything to "make it work." As I stated, I've never used arrow keys in Messages. I just tried what you described (as best I could figure it out), and I didn't find any issues with it.

The current issues are using the arrow keys and shift + arrow keys to select/highlight text.

I can do that in the message entry field, but I can't in the past messages.

Too much hassle to connect an HDMI monitor, but I did turn on Sidecar with my iPad. No difference.

Note - When naming the shortcut, I had to include the three periods at the end of the shortcut "..." (just as you posted) so that the shortcut is named "Delete Conversation..."

Although you mentioned this, I didn't initially include the three periods and it didn't work.

That worked for me, I had to label it "Delete Conversation..."

The three periods were necessary.

However, it requires that I confirm the delete, anyway around that?

that is a workaround - but please Apple don't do that,

I need that "X" again - I have tons of spam that needs to be erased daily

Indeed! Apple messed up on this one. Give the option to delete once, and not two-part process, and restore the "X" or simple swipe left feature and DONE! Sheesh.

Very kludgy workaround. Just bring back the "X", and/or swipe left ONCE, not twice ... for crying out loud! And by the way, this is NOT "Solved." 🙄
