It begins the process of adding it but while 'setting up EPSON Workforce 610... An error occurred while trying to add the selected device. successful-ok-ignored-or-substituted-attributes'

I had an issue with my Epson Workforce 320 where it was removed from System Preference and when I tried to add it the Epson software on my Mac would not install, with a dialogue box saying it could not complete installation.
I solved my problem by going to Epson support and downloading the Mac 10.15.x Printer Driver v10.33. I ran that installer and went back to add printer. This time it added the print and all works fine now.
MacOS Big Sur must have altered/broke the Epson software on my Mac.
MCgoetz, I went to Epson Support, keyed in my printer, workforce 610, then selected operating system of MacOS 10.15, since they don't currently have drivers for 11.0.1 (Big Sur), then downloaded driver. Hope that helps. Don (11-16-20 0700 PST)
Any other ideas on how to solve this problem? I've followed this advice and Epson site says my Stylus Photo PX720WD is compatible with Big Sur and I've (re-)downloaded the drivers but am still getting the message successful-ok-ignored-or-substituted-attributed when try to add the printer. Help please!
You re-downloaded the driver but, and please don't take offense, did you install it? Open the downloaded dmg file and double click the install pkg file? Let that process finish, then you should be able to go into Printers & Scanners and add your printer. Don (11-16-20 13:38 PST)
UPDATE: So, as I said, reinstalling the driver allowed me to add back my printer. However, I'm still not able to print. I can send a print job to the printer, but if I open the print queue it just says "Waiting for printer to become available" -- which it never does. I guess I'll be stuck waiting for Epson to release new drivers compatible with Big Sur. *sigh*
i had the same problem, my printer is epson L220. i've downloaded the drivers needed but i still can't add the printer on system preference. i guess we just have to wait until there is another update. have you tried contacting epson support through e-mail?
is it safe for macos? i'm sorry i just upgraded my windows to macbook air this year so i don't really know the operating system yet.
*update: i just check the guttenprint but sadly its not compatible with my printer. i just sent an email to epson support hopefully it gets an update soon
Hi, I put OS BigSur 11.0.1 on my iMac and found that my Epson WF-2530 printer would not work so I took your advice and downloaded the Mac 10.15 Printer driver from the Epson site and Hey Presto everything now works fine including the scanner. I can only think that OS BigSur knocks out the original Epson printer driver. Very grateful for you help. Thanks

i'm sorry i thought it was for all the devices that had a problem in Big Sur, but someone else just informed me that he got in touch with epson support center and was informed that "Apple left it too late to advise/allow Epson to develop new software, will have to wait until its ready" so i guess another update will be coming soon.
Thanks for such a speedy response Jan, anyway I’m pleased to say that the problem has been resolved because Epson have now come up with a driver for it and they directed me to the site this afternoon and everything is now working again.
DonParr, I'm trying to follow your advice. I downloaded the dmg file and installed the pkg file successfully, or so it said. But when I go into Printers & Scanners, I am still unable to add the printer. Nothing shows up. Do you have any suggestions?
CW_3, you can try resetting your printing system. Also ensure you downloaded the driver for Big Sur from Epson (MacOS 11) which is now available. Reset your printing system, install Big Sur Epson driver, add printer. Don (11-24-20 12:41 PST)
CW_3, you downloaded the DMG file, did you open the DMG file and execute the PKG file inside so the new driver would install? If so, then ensure the printer is connected and turned on so the Mac can 'see' it. If you've done all of that, then I'm at a loss as to what to do next, other than contact Epson or Apple support. I downloaded both the drivers at https://epson.com/Support/Printers/All-In-Ones/WorkForce-Series/Epson-WorkForce-610/s/SPT_C11CA50201
Installed/executed them with the printer connected and then it worked.
I just downloaded latest driver (even though driver is not updated to Big Sur) and went to my pdf, pressed the print shortcut (Command + P) and printed the document!
