I bought my iPhone from the T-Mobile retailer, mine was manufactured during the 2nd week of December and I received it and saw that the contrast and the screen had a overall yellow tint. Instantly got annoyed about it, but kept thinking about it and decided to order one from Apple directly. I received it today and it seems like the new one is a lot better, the contrast and the grays and blacks look a lot darker. However, the white is still a bit warm, but is a very minor problem now. I think Apple might be fixing it slowly through the manufacturing process. I would recommend to exchange or return and purchase it again to get a different batch and try your luck

Spent a couple of hours with Apple Support Canada on line  last week  on the issue of yellowish tint screen for the IPhone 12 Max Pro.  They were helpful and very courteous and we went trough several steps of trying to correct the problem but without success.  They finally came to the conclusion that I had to return the Iphone to the Apple store but not before they documented to my case file, all the attempts made so they wouldn’t be a waste of time at the store and redo all these steps.  What a surprise once in the store, all Iphone 12 in the showcase had yellow tint screens and they were beside some Iphone 11 which had bright cold color tones.  The Apple technician told me that it was Apple’s intent to come up with this type of screen.  My wife and I sadly returned both our Iphone 12 pro max and we will hold on to our Iphone 10.

i have an iPhone 12 (blue)and my screen is yellow as ****! 4-5 days ago I spoke to Apple online support and they mentioned it was a software issue, however my buddy who has the same phone as me doesn’t have this problem. So how could this be software related! Apple is known for the quality and the main reason I switch to the 12 from my ex is due to screen accuracy as they advertised! This could be my last iPhone tbh!

The problem on my iPhone 12 Pro is NOT software related. It is poor quality of the glass and/or the coating. Very easy to verify, just shut off the phone and locate yourself in a room with a white light in the ceiling, look at the reflection in the black screen of the phone, it is yellowish!

Also was at three different stores and compared in total seven other phones with mine. All had different hue on the screen, but mine was the most yellowish.

it is going back!

Nobody should set for a lesser or an inferior quality device when perfect iPhones 12 Pro Max are out there. I had witnessed two iPhones 12 Pro Max (Graphite color), with a perfect screen and not black flickering issue. Also, a friend of mine purchased two iPhones 12 Pro Max on launch day, one blue and one gold, the blue one is yellow-tinted, and the gold is perfect.

Reading all the forums possible, I have learned that there is no correlation between serial numbers and excellent or bad iPhones. Also, it is my opinion that this issue is not related to software. As I said before, there are good ones out there running the same iOS version. The same issue happened to iPhones 11 Pro Max, but it wasn't widespread as the 12 series. Those yellow-tinted iPhones 11 are still yellow-tinted. Apple never produced a fix for it.

I had two iPhones 12 Pro Max, both with the yellow tint, one worst than the other, and one of them all grey colors looked greenish with raised blacks flickering.

If you are on the return period, return it. Tell Apple that you are not going to pay for a defective device.

*sigh*

I got mine yesterday, Dec 16th and will be returning it today. Iphone12PM PacificBlue, 128gb, F2LD Series.

I chatted with CS (connected to my phone, ran diagnostic, no issues) so, he/she had someone called me.

Got the call and talked and he offered me to have my Screen Replaced. (doesnt sound like they are aware of the yellow tint. The guy on the phone said he has the same phone but no yellow tint) I promptly said No and will gladly return the phone today/tomorrow. End of our conversation. No other offers and was like good luck on your new device (was said sarcastically and it ****** me off but we)

I paid $1000 for an inferior screen quality.

I am sad and disappointed.

I watched a lot of big youtubers review on it and not once have I heard them mentioned a yellow tint on the screen and its obvious that there isnt and they arent even talking about it. Yikes.

at this

Upgrading from iphoneX for reference.

They just said 4 was too many. I was going to fall outside my return period. From the first one.

the nit brightness was an issue on 3/4. Yellow on all 4, but only on True Tone for the one that was bright enough.

ive only heard people with pacific blue have this issue Ans someone said a grey and a gold were ok. I wonder if the blue case batches had the issue?

Someone should be calming people to be honest. Yes, the screens are warmer this year. Previous generation phones had stark white screens. These aren't stark white, they're just different. But the warmer screens are likely easier on our eyes for extended periods of viewing times.

I notice my screen is warmer. I have actually come to appreciate the warmth. I hope Apple doesn't do anything to change it. It's less of a strain on my eyes.

Sometimes, different isn't actually bad.

It’s not Apples place to redefine what is healthy. Sure, have a “warm setting for wallflowers”, the rest of us just want accurate. Plenty of pros in here with calibrators who know this is plain wrong.

if you prefer it, you are lucky; I don’t like a blue white or a yellow white, I want a white white. I am well aware of colour temperature ranges in natural daylight before anyone calls me out on that. I’m a photographer.

Such a let down. We pay over the odds, we accept that. But apple marketing is that we get the best. But this is mediocre.

on three of the phones the contrast I had was terrible. One is ok, but True Tone is awful on them all.

I believe the True Tone yuk is intended and could easily be resolved in software, but there are also many well below par screens out there too.

So the solution for some is True Tone off. But if your screen is dimmer than an X, send it back.

if you can’t live with knowing you paid for True Tone but can’t use it, a refund is your only choice. Apple might fix it. I’m not hopeful.

The return process in Sweden is complicated. I bought the phone on contract and the package is opened. If I return the phone, they will send it to the nearest apple service center, they will take a look at it, if the phone is repairable they will repair it, if not they will replace it. This process takes 2-4 weeks. I have several conversations with apple support about this issue without any results. So I guess I have 2 options.

  1. sell the phone and loos money
  2. wait till apple comes with some fix, hardware or software
