Hello, Apple Community, Apple Customer Care and Product Design Team. :-)
1.Would you please allow Users to customised their products so everyone will be satisfied, females, males and others, of all ages from children across the elderly, all kind of professions, backgrounds and so on?
2.Why do you force Users to like something that you like?
I do like the monochromic backgrounds and the minimalistic look of every single wallpaper for example. Also, I do like to change them as much as I like easy, hassle-free.
3.Was this super bright, flashy graphic of Big Sur tasted with hundreds of Users? I do not think so. I do not like it. I am sorry for the author, but I am more sorry for myself and the dissatisfied Apple Community.
4.Is this that hard for Designers and Developers to implement by right 1 click divided into 3 screen options to change our pictures every single time as many times as we want?
Simple 1 Click divided to 3 clicks using Right Click. That's all.
This is so easy from the User Point Of View.
5.User-Centred Design is called Apple. Have you forgotten what does it mean with every system update?
I am myself UX/UI Designer and Visual Graphic Designer and I do not fancy bright, flashy colours or empty, dry desserts. I like customised my backgrounds just like I would not buy this type of flashy, bright pattern on any dress or handbag or wallet, I do not want anything like that at my home and my computer.
6.Would not be this great as for example I want my starting, lock and desktop screen to be customised to my needs and moods as I want. Depends on my weekly goals for example.
7.Why should I even look for any kind of answers, to strategies the look, e.g. update folders, change security, do this, do that, to do so simple thing as to change all screens by one click divided into 3 options. So Easy User Flow and so happy Users.
8.Plus the Icon of the User at the start is not sharp as in the previous operating system. My Eagle has rough edges and pixels. I can see this with my naked eye.
I hope one day, there will be a competitor bigger than Apple, who will listen to Users. :) I might be 85 but I will celebrate this day!
Until then, I believe you will learn more about Users and your Clients, with every frustration every single time with operating system updates.
Would you please let me know when you fix this because truly I cannot stand this graphic?
I updated my Lock Screen and obviously Desktop Screen. Now time to just leave the computer on to never look at these flashy bright graphics or wait until Majesty Apple will finally ask and listen to Users and give them so simple option to easily update 3 screens: Start, Lock and Desktop.
Good Luck Product Team. I keep my fingers crossed for you, that there will be more empathy while updating systems and simple compassion to Users all kind of Users! That's why we Customisation. Isn't it?
If you need more User Testing to actually really customised product to Users, our needs want and like, I am here ready to give you all my User Experience Design free of charge. :)
Kind Regards,
Katarzyna
P.S.: Look at the Bright Side of Life but do not look too long on the bright graphics as might hurt your eyes. Save your Eyes for your Designs or whatever you do on a mac. :-)
Thank you for the wonderful care of my post. You are indeed so engaged. I cannot be more than thankful.
That's great, that you worry so much about my post and the location and even the reply from Apple.
You are indeed in charge of the channel, I assume. I cannot be more blessed.
I got the response already from Apple as written above in my first reply to you. ;-)
Is there anything else than I can help you with? :-)
If not, cheers until the next system update.
Bye!
Hey VPOPOV
The complaint was done officially as Apple emailed me directly and took my feedback as a User Experience Designer.
The same happens with AdobeXD recently. :-)
The long message over here brings an immediate reaction from Apple. It is worth explaining a lot, that time they react in the split of secs. Let's see if they actually will do change what was requested by multiply Users over here.
About AdobeXD: since 2016 users are asking about certain things, simple things, nothing big, and still not done even it was promised.
I feel Product Design teams in those large, giant companies, do not really care about Users. The products are sold anyway... unfortunately. I hope maybe with multiply Feedback - macOS - Apple official complaints Apple would start to listen to actual Users. Otherwise, it is just simply a sad joke.
Cheers,
Katarzyna
I just filled out the form for Apple also to request a immediate fix to this. Told them I buy all Apple for the last 15 years phone, desktop 27 inch and a bunch of iPads. I recently purchased a new 27 inch Mac and waited a few months to install Big Sur and not very happy that a simple pic on the Lock Screen can't be changed. I told them that I actually liked the last 27 inch Mac I bought back in 2007 or ? because I could put CD's and DVD's in it, the Top Sites had a great page they took away. I find it pretty bad to buy a newer version of something I bought many many years ago and find I liked the old one better! Same goes for phones, you make them so big now they can't fit in any of my pockets! Geesh!
Hi Katarzyna,
That's great. Hopefully they will listen to the Apple community and take into consideration your feedback. However, I strongly believe that if more and more complaints are coming their way it will greatly increase the chance of them changing something in reasonably near feature.
Thank you for taking of your time to respond.
Vik
I’ve seen it done before and believe I know how you do it:
If you have several desktops, go to the first and change it to whatever you want your login screen to be. Then log out and log back in. Hopefully, the login screen should have been the one you recently changed.
Hope this helps,
-PineappleJam
I have this question also. The Big Sur lock screen, the one with the users that can login, is hideous. This background is very un-Apple like.
I know how to change the desktop background, I don't know how to change the gaudy bright initial screen when you get the login screen.
It works until you reboot. Then its back to the rainbow. Ugh!
Hello, Just change your login screen background as usual and go to system preferences ---> Security & Privacy ---> FileVault and turn off FileVault and restart. It will work. Cheers.
I posted a solution here: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/252056512
You're not talking to Apple representatives here. We're all end users like yourself. If you want to make a request tell Apple what new features added to the system via Feedback - macOS - Apple.
I should have never upgraded to the "Big Sur". This needs to be fixed quickly.
Just figured it out: right click anywhere on your screen and then choose "change desktop background". There is quit a few options.
That doesn't work for the lock screen. Thanks for the input.
Ummm, did you read the word "login" before the word "screen"? Right-clicking helps AFTER login.
