I am trying to send a photo via messages on my new iPhone 12 pro and even though MMS Messaging is enabled I receive an error message saying “MMS Messaging needs to be enabled to send this message”, any ideas on how to fix?

Anything having to do with MMS is still a carrier problem, not an iPhone problem. You must contact your carrier’s tech support and have them either fix it, or reprovision your account. You may need help from a tier 2 tech to do this.
MMS is 100% a carrier function. If it isn’t working only the carrier can fix it.
Just completed a software update to 14.2.1 and can now send MMS messages, hope this works for you as well, regards Kylie
Update IOS, and that should fix the problem.
Yes, but I don't know how or why. I signed in and out of iCloud and resynced everything and it started working. Note, it was not working on MacOS Big Sur, but was working on the iPhone, so I think it is Big Sur related. The next day it started working.
Settings were already enabled, there has been an update released which has fixed this issue, regards Kylie
You have to turn off iMessage. It’s the only way I got it to work
I think this is a iOS issue not an issue with the phone carrier. I cannot send MMS to android users while using AT&T and Google Fi ( I have 2 SIM cards). Same message comes out. It worked a few weeks ago with no problem until iOS updated to 14.2.1. I believe 14.3 is suppose to release 12/14 (tomorrow). If it still doesn’t work it’s time to email Mr Cook cause I can’t get any answers from anyone at Apple.
The only way I found to resolve it is turn off mms and then mms will send to like normal. The only issue is you lose the option of group chats
I cannot send MMS either on my 12 Pro Max. I'm running 14.2.1.
I get error, "message failed to send."
I reset network settings, restarted, toggled MMS off and on again. removed sim, restarted.
No luck.

Me too. My settings are correct and my phone is up to date for software w/ 14.2.1.
It was working just a couple days ago. I had to airdrop it to my macbook and then send it from my macbook messenger. :-(
Cellular data is turned on. I spent 45 minutes with phone carrier last night who confirmed MMS is enabled. I signed out of iCloud and signed back in. Resynced. Did that twice. Restarted my MBP twice. Nothing. This morning it is working again. I don't know what happened I believe it is an Apple/Big Sur issue.
This doesn't help. They just said it is enabled in settings. I have the same problem...

Turn off MMS messaging and it will work normally except you lose the function of group chats. That’s the closest I’ve come to fixing it. So frustrating
Having the same issue, it was working fine last week after the update and as of yesterday it have been giving me the same message as above. My settings are correct and I am able to attach via message app but not able to attach via the picture it’s self.... hope they fix this soon!
