iPhone 12 camera flicker on video recording

Hi!

I recently bought the new iPhone 12 Pro Max.

I have noticed that when I shoot video's in the dark (with the lights on in the house), there is some kind of flickering visible in the video.

Apparently it is possible that due to very fast flickering of lights, slowmo video's make this kind of flickering visible when you can not see it with the naked eye.

I however have this problem with normal video's as well. I have compared it with the video's on my iPhone X and it is definitely worse in my iPhone 12 video's.

I noticed that this happens while recording video on HD (or 4K) at 60 FPS, if you switch to 30 FPS this doesn't happen.

Anyone else that has this problem?

Thanks!

As for the issue of light flickering, studying a little this whole issue I have been able to verify one thing.

This only happens to people who live in countries with PAL format (like Spain), where artificial light works with FPS multiples of 25. In many other places like the US it does not happen because they work with FPS multiples of 30.

I have downloaded the RCam app, which allows you to vary the FPS and I have been able to verify that in video recording with 30FPS and 60FPS this flickering of the light occurs when recording video, which does not happen if I set the recording to 25FPS or 50FPS.

I know Apple is going to introduce 25FPS recording and would ask if they can introduce 50FPS in the future for better and smoother recordings.

Setting the camera's FPS to 25FPS or 50FPS eliminates this problem. so... PROBLEM SOLVED!

Dogcowmoof, please do not mislead all community here with flickering problem.

first, if what you are saying tru or correct then on iphone Box we should see warning label “ phone video would not work correctly ( with flickering) in Europe or other countries where is 50 hz power frequency”

secondly, i tried to capture the same video on iphone X in Europe where was room light and it was no flickering either at 30 fps or 60 fps, full hd or 4k

so, its real software problem that we have with iphone 12 pro in my case

I do not refuse technical information or explanation.

problem is that no any major , probably, phone company Has this problem. People paying 1000 for phone that has flickering issue. So, conclusion is or Apple has to warn buyers about this issue or resolve some way this problem

other question - if technician explanation is so true, why is flickering not happening to all phones?

i notice flickering mostly outside when I am moving around. At the beach very visible.Maybe some X-rays affecting my phone. Is there any study about that? Can we just focus here? This issue I think visible in all 12 series. As an iPhone owner for about 10 years I noticed it immediately in first few recordings.Again usually when walk around and record. If I am standing still and move camera very slowly not so much.I have not tested too much indoors

i just got my iphone 12 pro this week, and I’m experiencing issues when taking a video on 0.5x ultra wide lens at 4k 60fps, i get a very bad 2 seconds lag - latency when i touch the screen for exposure or focus.

for example:

i wave my hand to the camera and on my screen i can see my hand movements 2 second later, as if i’m in slow motion or something.
