iPhone 12 camera flicker on video recording

Hi!

I recently bought the new iPhone 12 Pro Max.

I have noticed that when I shoot video's in the dark (with the lights on in the house), there is some kind of flickering visible in the video.

Apparently it is possible that due to very fast flickering of lights, slowmo video's make this kind of flickering visible when you can not see it with the naked eye.

I however have this problem with normal video's as well. I have compared it with the video's on my iPhone X and it is definitely worse in my iPhone 12 video's.

I noticed that this happens while recording video on HD (or 4K) at 60 FPS, if you switch to 30 FPS this doesn't happen.

Anyone else that has this problem?

As for the issue of light flickering, studying a little this whole issue I have been able to verify one thing.

This only happens to people who live in countries with PAL format (like Spain), where artificial light works with FPS multiples of 25. In many other places like the US it does not happen because they work with FPS multiples of 30.

I have downloaded the RCam app, which allows you to vary the FPS and I have been able to verify that in video recording with 30FPS and 60FPS this flickering of the light occurs when recording video, which does not happen if I set the recording to 25FPS or 50FPS.

I know Apple is going to introduce 25FPS recording and would ask if they can introduce 50FPS in the future for better and smoother recordings.

Setting the camera's FPS to 25FPS or 50FPS eliminates this problem. so... PROBLEM SOLVED!

If this is what you are referring to, I am having the same problem as well. I thought my phone was defective and exchanged it to new one. But even the new one is having the same problem. I am able to see black grid lines when shooting videos, and the sky flickering is annoying as well.

Ojalá que saquen una actualización antes de enero que solucione tanto los problemas de flickering con la cámara como los problemas de las tonalidades grises y verdes en las pantallas...

Estoy muy de acuerdo, posts como estos hay que hacerlos más virales para que se haga eco y así lo solucionen cuanto antes.

Had it been the flickering in the artificial light that was still ok. But in my case the objects in the video are shaking as if they are vibrating! The video transition is not smooth, keeps on shaking :(

My phone is just 5 hours old and i have to face this, its frustrating!

I'm glad that you've found a solution that you're happy with!

In my case the problem is also visible in outside shots when there is no artificial light present. I've also seen outside clips from other users that have this problem, so I suppose it doesn't (in my case anyway) really depend on the light source or the frequency of power grid.

Hi apple. I bought my iphone12 pro max beacuse the videos i watch it was good but i just observed while taking photos and videos become sudden flickering and night mode in video is not anymore working in 3 lenses. And sometimes in wide lense become delayed?is it factory defect or it is bug on the software. I planning to go the store if it will not return to normal function specially in video camera. Thanks!!!

yeah i tried already but what i mean is when i was shooting videos even in night it will adjust and become bright. But yesterday it sudden it will no longer adjust. And the quality now is not smooth. But in photo it will adjust in dark or night time it will become bright. So do ineed to return my i phone or not?

Same is the problem with my iphone 12 pro max.. was taking photos today at night time and this is is how some of the pics came out.

Just received my pro max and have exactly the same problem. Disappointed as went to the dark side (Samsung) and was so happy to finally go back to the iPhone, yet never had any problems with Samsung regarding video’s, etc!! Can they bug fix this?

Change topic about my battery in iphone 12 pro max. Im trying to full charge my iphone and i let stand by and not really used it and i slept in the night. And i tried to check it it decreased 3 percent. 12:90 midnight until 8:00 am. Is this normal battery consumption or not. ?thanks

Please, tell us any details they tell you on Monday, 11th.

At the same time, it is rare that in an iPhone 12 Pro Max it does happen to you and in the other it does not.

Could you upload a video recording the exact same thing with both phones and how are the camera settings on both?
