Bypassing lock screen with FaceID

Can you bypass the lock screen using FaceID in the same way as with TouchID? I just got my iPhone 12 Pro Max (moved from the iPhone 7 Plus) and while it unlocks, I still have to swipe up to get into the phone. Thanks!

Thank you! I understand the reasoning behind it and it actually makes sense for most users to want to view notices on their lock screen without the facial recognition instantly bypassing it and going into their iPhone. I also realize this is a trivial detail as swiping up isn't a big deal.

My only suggestion would be to add an option in a future release of iOS perhaps in the Face ID section of Settings to disable that feature if the user wanted to go directly into their iPhone using Face ID rather than it remain requiring them to swipe up to get into their iPhone and I left such a request via the product feedback link you provided.

Thank you! I did both and I still have to slide up from the bottom to get into the phone. Keep in mind, the locked icon at the top of the lock screen does change to an unlocked icon and then it asks me at the bottom to 'swipe up to open'. Perhaps that's what it's supposed to do? I just figured it would respond the same as TouchID does by unlocking and going into the phone automatically without you having to swipe up after recognizing your face.

Hello AppleSiggy,

We see that you're having an issue with Face ID on your iPhone 12 Pro Max. What you're experiencing is not expected behavior, and we'd be happy to look into this with you.

First, restart your iPhone and then test to see if the issue remains.

Restart your iPhone

If the issue persists, reset Face ID. Go to Settings > Face ID & Passcode and tap Reset Face ID. Then set up Face ID again and test to see if the issue remains.

Use Face ID on your iPhone or iPad Pro

Let us know how's this goes.

Have a great day!

Hello AppleSiggy,

Thanks for clarifying what exactly is happening with your iPhone. What you are experiencing is expected behavior. You will have to swipe up to get to the Home screen after you have unlocked the device with Face ID.
