iMessage not working on iPhone 12 pro max

Just letting everyone know I had this issue where iMessage and FaceTime wasn’t working at all. I tried all troubleshoots possible even reset and than transfer data over again. If you recently upgraded phones make sure you sign out before you reset old phone. I didn’t do this just giving people a heads up. So back to the iMessage issue. Don’t worry it will activate in 24-48 hours on its own. Idk why Apple does it this way but they do, but it will turn on. I’ve had iPhones since the 4 and have never had this issue so I freaked out this time around. Just know it will come back and don’t worry. Have a good day everyone!

Ok - found my issue- within Messages in Settings there is a setting for accepting iMessage through iCloud acct and phone numbers.....my phone number was not active.

I presume when my phone got activated my cell phone number was not activated within Settings>Messages>Send & Receive


note - we bought the phone outright from Apple with set up at a later date which involved calling AT&T to turn on.

Upgrade to the 12 Pro Max - love the phone but.... iMessage not working properly. Photos are in each message if i scroll back up through the message but no longer appear in the info area in iMessage. Oddly, they imported for some people and not for others.


Also, many contacts did not import while most did - even though I did full back up prior to transferring to my new phone.


Very frustrating - every time I change my phone, some data is lost but no way to know cause each time - usually contacts or message data. What is the point of the back-up if all the data doesnt come through?

I have changed the iPhone 12 pro Max 2 times and still have many issues. iMessages many time don't work specially when selecting a picture and sending it. many time it will select the picture but when you go to send in the iMessage the picture is no longer there, so you have to go back and select again. Many times it will select a random picture in addition to the ones you selected, really weird. Many other apps are not working on iPhone 12 Pro max which work fine on iPhone 12 pro. Like Ring App, Next-door app and many other apps. The iOS14 is most horrible upgrade I have ever experienced in conjunctions with iPhone 12 Pro max. iOS 14 was great on my old iPhone X not a single issue.
