Removing and re-installing email account on IphoneX

Abruptly, as of one day last week, I can no longer send or receive ATT email on my IphoneX.  (I am still able to send and receive email on my computer, and I am still able to send and receive email on my iPad, which is why I think it is an Iphone issue.)  It has been suggested that I remove my email account from my Iphone and then reinstall it. My question is whether I risk losing emails if I go that route.  As long as the email is on my computer, is there a risk that emails would be deleted?  Thanks for any help.

It sounds like you have some questions concerning your email. We will be happy to help.


If your email account is an IMAP account, then it should not erase those emails from the server. That would be a question to ask your email provider.


To remove the email account go here:


  1. From a Home screen, navigate: Settings. > Mail.
  2. Tap Accounts.
  3. From the 'ACCOUNTS' section, tap an email account.
  4. Tap Delete Account (at the bottom; may require scrolling).
  5. To confirm, tap Delete from My iPhone.


To set it back up, follow these steps: Add an email account to your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
