Whenever I join a Google meet through Safari, there’s an audio issue where there a crackling noise and I can’t make out what is being said. It works fine on chrome but I prefer Safari and this issue has only started when I updated to MacOS Big Sur. Currently to fix this issue, I have join and rejoin multiple times and try and plug and unplug my earphones.

What worked for me is to install Safari Technology Preview.

Install the second one, it's for free. It solved the crackles. However as it is a separate browser, you will need to re-log in to everything. (I didn't want to use Chrome as it is slow.)
I think they will later solve it in the main Safari also.

it's still happening to me after i have my new mackbook it's so annoying.
its dfixed now on macbook air 2020 retian it will ons afari
they did not fix this on m1 chip still has to many flaws its new if it is urgent buy and i3 or i5 air I have 2020 its great no problems
