upload photos from macos to icloud withoud photos app

Hello,

My mother - 87 years old - is using her iPad for watching photos of her children and grandchildren.

Photos are stocked on iCloud.

Of course she is not looking at the size of the pictures, so a lot of them are quite big.

Because of this het iCloud is full.

I downloaded her photos from iCloud to my Mac and resized a huge part of the images.

But when I go again to www.icloud.com and try to upload these photos I receive an error message.

In the detail report I can see:

STACK

TypeError: Cannot read property 'length' of undefined

How can I replace the pictures on iCloud with the resized ones?

ps - I live more than 150KM from my parents so I cannot physically go to them

Issue is solved: I created an extra account on my mac and linked this account to iCloud account of my Mother.

Photos were downloaded into Photos app.

I replaced the photos on photo app by the resized ones.

This replaced also photos in iCloud and I gained 2GB.

The iCloud storage is full as you described , purchase a new storage plan https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201318

even if you turned on Download and Keep Originals or Download Originals to this Mac. If you choose to download your originals, this also impacts your device storage.

You must upgrade the icloud storage plan .

Thank you tygb for your reply, but I'am afraid you misunderstood the issue.

Buy resizing picture size I solve the issue of the storage that is full.

e.g. 800 files of 3MB at least are reduced with sizes of 600KB max. (for iPad this size is OK)

So I realy think that there is no need to buy storage

I only need to upload the resized files, but that is not possible because of error message:

I'm afraid to delete first photos from iCloud before uploading resized pictures.

Can someone guarantee deleting pictures will solve issue?
