Calendar notification snooze in Big Sur?

We just installed Big Sur on our iMacs. Now when we get calendar notifications, we only have an option that says "snooze", with no option to select how long we want to snooze it for. This is really annoying and much less helpful than before, when we had multiple options (1 hour, 1 day, etc.). Are we just missing something here? Is there a way around this? (Note: we've tried clicking and holding "snooze", but no options come up when we do that.) Sure would love some help with this. Thanks.

This is simply unacceptable. That option is not just a minor change that's a huge thing. And why? Who in the right mind would remove this?

I also am very annoyed by the situation. I called Apple before I read this forum and it is true this is what they consider in “update”. It is beyond foolish. With each new operating system things are supposed to work better, not worse. I’ll never understand why people do the things they do. It doesn’t make any sense at all and it needs to go back to the way it was.

I am guessing as part of integrating iOS and MacOS, this may have been removed (as iOS does not have the snooze options).

BUT this IS a critical feature. I set up 15 min reminder for calendar and then snooze till 1 min before the meeting start. This ensured that I called in to the meeting for sure. Now the notifications are not consistent. So I have been calling into meetings late. Can you PLEASE add the snooze options feature back?

Ugh, just upgraded to a new MBP and am sorely disappointed with this feature being removed :( If anyone knows any workarounds or 3rd party apps that could be used in its absence, please chime in.

Got a reminder about a birthday and want to snooze it until later when you're able to FaceTime? NOPE! You can set an entirely new reminder or snooze it every 5 minutes for the next several hours! C'mon, Apple.....

@Sortly, that makes a lot of sense, and that hadn't immediately occurred to me. It would seem natural that Big Sur unifies Calendar with iPadOS using Catalyst. That being said, I would not expect Apple to address this until a future large development cycle because it affects both platforms, and it will have to be a release where the iPadOS and macOS release dates coincide. That being said, I would not expect the Snooze issue to be resolved until macOS 12 (and that's assuming our pleas sufficiently motivate them).

Apple seems to be heading into whadafug territory. I've had a long familiarity with Apple products, going back to the 80s, and owned or had professional use of them for many years. I moved away from Windows products "for good" about 10 years ago. But I still deal with them now and then. I just bought a Windows 10 computer for my wife because that's what she wanted. But I scratched my head at its wahdafug-endness. Apple doesn't want to keep trending that way, because there are now at least a few things that Windows actually does better...

Thanks I just submitted this feedback on that link: "I simply can't fathom why Apple keeps eliminating the most helpful user friendly features in every update. Why do I even keep updating? Nothing good was added in Big Sur. I keep encountering problems with how everything is working. And today I discovered that one of the most beloved features is simply gone. Please put back the multi option snooze feature that was in MacOs prior to Big Sur."

I posted the below on the feedback page. While there's some expected "I don't like the way the new OS works with regard to XYZ" issues in Big Sur, they flat out intentionally disabled this feature and made an app THAT I RELIED ON HEAVILY pretty much useless to me. I'm seriously questioning the logic & reason behind this. It's like "Okay everybody, we have to redesign this toaster... how do we make it really pretty, but also ensure that it doesn't actually toast the bread... so you know... that way nobody wants to use it for its intended purpose."

If you're here with the same gripe pls see link in top answer and give feedback.

Dear Apple,

The new snooze feature in the Big Sur Calendar app is useless if I can't set the duration of the snooze, e.g. 1 hour, 1 day, etc. You may as well just disable snooze altogether as this is counterintuitive to how EVERYONE uses the snooze feature. What was the thought process here? It's up there with making round tires octagonal. Please fix this as soon as possible so I can use calendar alerts instead of some clunky reminders app. As a busy professional (with ADHD now less) the calendars app used to be great tool to keep me on track, now I need to look elsewhere until this is fixed.

THERE IS A REASONABLE WORKAROUND in that you can set your notifications to Do Not Disturb for an hour, "until this evening," until tomorrow, etc. using the half moon icon in the menu bar. Best I have been able to do. It won't allow you to turn something off for a day or two or two hours or until a week before or whatever, but it will keep the stuff out of your work flow and off your screen for the time being. Not the best, not the worst.

This is a HUGE inconvenience and is forcing me to look at other calendar options. I've already missed a few key reminders because of this nonsense. Why would they screw around with something so simple?

It's like Apple is daring me to switch back to Windows after years of being a Mac loyalist. Every update makes me look at Windows (and Android for my phone, for that matter) much more seriously.

Please STOP making your product worse every year.
