External mic not working with Apple Facebook app

I had great luck with Prism for my business accounts. It did take a bit for the business page options to show up, but it worked perfectly.

Anyone tried using the Facebook Business Suite (formerly known as Pages) app to launch the Live Stream? Gonna give it a test tonight before church tomorrow.

You have to go in the menu and select setting then look for background audio and turn it on, then you will be good to go.

The app prism worked great for live streaming

We work for a major organization called OneBlood. We have a large media department and this phenomenon has also Cut us off at the knees. we use external microphones like a Rhode, Sennheisser wireless units with my IPhone 11 Pro Max. No longer!! We had been testing and scratching our heads for the last couple of weeks as to why we can no longer use these devices. See one advice is to plug in the microphone after you start the Facebook live-that is a startling answer. We have looked all through applications through the iPhone and software in Facebook and cannot figure out why this is changed. Apple!!! Help! Like what’s happened?

I actually hook my phone to a connector to the sound board at our church. So the external mic turns off, and all you hear comes from the sound board. Until 14.2, now I ONLY have the iPhone mic and not what comes through the board.

I have tried plugging in 15 seconds or so

after FB live starts, have tried pulling down from the right corner, it says iPhone and when

you plug it in it converts to Headphones, but still uses the mic. This has really messed up our FB live feed. Really hoping someone has a fix for this.

Weird, it was NOT working for me when I had 14.2 either. For me the issue started on 12/19. Plugging in the external mic after starting Facebook live does not work. Neither does selecting the mic source in the upper right pull down menu.

Mic/DJmixer in my iPhone Xs after staring FB live was a solution to the problem...till 2 a 3 weeks ago.

Still not working...

Tried today on my iPad2.... older devise...and didn’t work!

Tried todayon my wifes iPhone 6s... mic not normal working, but plugging it in after starting FB live..it works on this ‘older devise’

so what the problem is?? No idea

But it sucks big time that Apple and Facebook still didn’t solved this, for many users, big problem!

Happened to me after the previous update. Found the “plug in after you start” solution to work, although ridiculous because viewers hear all the popping, static and shaking during the process. But after a little while that stopped working as well. I almost feel like this is by design from FB.

Perhaps. I was pretty elaborate with my issue and explanation. I even linked directly to this forum. I think I will call tomorrow. Be nice if lots of us would call that number and relay the issue. Still likely a small problem in the Apple world. So not sure what good it will do. For me, my phone still works with the “plug it in after you go live” method. I delayed on the update but ended up doing it and it still works. I tried it with someone else’s phone and it did not work at all. I’m still using MOVO as my device. Holding my breath for the day at stops working.

Couldn't get the external source (mixer) to work again this morning, trying to send to FBLive via my i11 Pro (iOS 14.3) and a Rode Wireless Pro. Did all the workarounds, to no avail. Confirmed that the phone was getting a signal via the native video app. Then I swapped in an old first gen iPhone SE (iOS 14.2) and it worked immediately. This issue has been a topic for weeks and we can't seem to get any attention from Apple (or Facebook). This is nuts.

I just tried the streamlabs app but i can only go live with my external mic on my business page. about to try the Prism app maybe i can livestream from my regular page which is what i need right now, thanks peeps

We just did a Facebook live 30 minutes ago and everything worked. We were using an iPhone 12 with iOS version 12.2. I plugged the external mic in about five seconds after the live started. Hope this helps.

Yes that will work as it’s not the new iOS update 14.3 which has caused it to not work at all, so if you have an old device with an earlier iOS software be fine. Apple are working on a fox for the new iOS update so just a case of waiting - hopefully not too long lol

Yes I’m using 11 Pro Max and 14.3 and I tried the test just using the rear camera and doesn’t work at all. This is frustrating because with our limited resources, we are broadcasting our church services to our Facebook live group page and I was hooking an extra mic with a 10 foot cable to the microphone on the podium and it worked beautifully and you could hear everybody but the last service we had it was obvious that the audio was only being picked up by the distant iPhone microphone. And I’m on 14.3 and the latest Facebook app.
