Wrong Chinese Characters (on MacBook Air)

When I type the Chinese character for "drink," it always shows up as "喝," which is incorrect. And this is not the only time where Chinese characters show up wrong. What can I do to fix this?

wow i just checked to see if mandarin, cantonese and other dialects people in that country speak but there is not any

just simplified and traditional, so i guess  is regarding the characters instead to the language or dialect.

but there is Canadien French and English Canadian which i use as well as Kanji, hiragana and katakana.

sometime i will cut and paste kanji characters i know when writing in Japanese instead of the keyboard stoke,

if that helps
