Looking for constructive support here - does anyone have any information on any constructive and proactive action Apple has taken to resolve this issue?
There is no action for Apple to take here. Glass is glass and glass can break. Samsung phones are glass back and they can and do break. Google phones are glass back and they can and do break. If you purchase AppleCare+ Apple will replace the phone for $29 if the glass cracks, not $99 as I believe one of your posts suggested. If there is other damage, with AppleCare+, the replacement cost will be $99.
Since you seem to be really miffed you own a phone which has glass and the glass can break, here's an idea for you. Put a screen protector on the back glass, like most people also put on the front glass. It could really help if your phone falls because screen protectors often absorb the impact and the protector may crack, protecting the back of your phone. Here's a link to some you could order on Amazon --> https://www.amazon.com/s?k=screen+protector+back+glass+iphone+13&ref=nb_sb_noss_2
You cannot say for certain that there is no defect. There could very possibly be a small percentage of defective units that have back glass that isn’t as sturdy as they have been designed, and not able to handle the regular daily stresses that every other unit can handle
I should also have said the surface of the back is totally unbroken on mine, it’s some layer underneath that’s shattered. Going to argue to apple this is a massive defect in the material as there is zero evidence of any chip or impact.
Also had the same issue. No fall (just regular use) and suddenly a crack on the back cover.
just to remind you that while having a crack on the phone cover…. If something stops working with the iPhone the warranty won’t solve it. Yes it’s true!
I went to court against apple because of that issue and changed for an iPhone 11.

It cannot be fixed. It will cost you probably $900+ if Apple give you discount, unless you have Applecare+
I have had my iPhone 12 pro max 12 for less than a week. Phone had a tiny drop and the back glass is all smashed. I have dropped other iPhones a lot worse with no impact. This is very annoying.
If you use Google search you can go back and read similar posts starting with the iPhone 3G. You can also go to other manufacturers site and read the same thing.
If you want to just leave a comment without involving Apple Support, leave feedback here; I can assure you it does get read and acted upon if possible:
Same place where the back glass on my phone broke and I did not drop mine either. The bezeled glass seems to be a fracture point.
The case doesn't cover the camera lenses and that is where it hit something.
You are giving prices and a link for a FRONT screen replacement. For the back glass currently all models require an out-of-warranty replacement of the entire iPhone.
Use the Get Support link at the top right of this page to find out how much.
yes, fortunately had apple care. wast $104+
All you can do is take it in and let Apple decide.
I can answer that.
No, heat from charging does not crack it.
Most of the pictures on here show a star crack round the camera housing corner consistent with a direct blow or abnormal pressure.
