Turbo Tax and Big Sur: This is the fix I used to get Turbo Tax to "Run" on Big Sur. 1) Installed on another Mac not using Big Sur, 2) Entered the Turbo Tax License Number, 3) Turbo Tax then did the updates, 4) Copied the Turbo Tax App from the Application Folder to a CD, 5) From CD Copied over to my Mac running Big Sur - it then loaded and ran without problems.

SUMMARY: Load it on a different mac NOT running Big Sur - do the updates - then copy over to the Mac running Big Sur. Luckily my daughters Mac was on Mohave. Lot easier than redoing the OS

Don't just turn off Intego, uninstall it completely.

Also have you run any other "cleaning", "optimizing", "speed-up" or anti-virus apps on your Mac?

If so download and run Etrecheck. Etrecheck is a diagnostic tool that was developed by one of the most respected users here in the ASC and recommended by Apple Support  to provide a snapshot of the system and help identify the more obvious culprits that can adversely affect a Mac's performance.

Copy the report

and use the Additional Text button to include the report in your reply.

IMPORTANT:

Before running Etrecheck assign Full Disk Access to Etrecheck in the Etrecheck's Privacy preference pane so that it can get additional information from the Console and log files for the report:

Also click and read the About info to further permit full disk access.

Then we can examine the report and see if we can determine what might be causing the problem.

So, I'm now up to 7+ hours of phone support from TurboTax and 5+ hours with AppleCare. As stated above, TurboTax doesn't work on Big Sur 11.2 although it seems support at TurboTax and AppleCare are unwilling to admit any knowledge of this problem. This is strange to me since I specifically pointed out to the support techs I spoke with that the problem is being discussed on this forum. I'm tossing in the towel and now ask this community for recommendations of alternative 2020 tax programs that have been successfully used with Big Sur 11.2.

The minimum requirements for the TT Premier 2020 as stated on my packaging are "macOS Mojave 10.14 or later. To me that seems to mean anything newer than that. Isn't that correct?

Yes it does "imply" that, and yet Amazon specifically states "Operating Systems:  macOS Mojave 10.14, Catalina 10.15".

I would contact Intuit and get a full refund. When they start seeing that they are losing money because they are dragging their feet updating their software, then they will add more resources to fix this issue.

I uninstalled the Intego App and the problem was solved. I plan to reinstall the App and see if the problem re-occurs. If it does, will contact Intego. I have not run any other "cleaning", "optimizing", "speed-up" or anti-virus other that the Intego App on this Mac so didn't pursue downloading and running the EntreCheck App. Do you still think it is necessary? Thanks again for your help on this.

TurboTax 2020 does not work with Big Sur. The Turbo Tax community discussion board has six full pages of comments about this dating back months. Why has nothing been done? I've worked with TT tech support and even received a new download of the software. It doesn't work on my brand new iMac running Big Sur 11.2. The software works fine on my wife's MacBook that is running on Catalina. We shouldn't all be fumbling around on something as basic as this. Apple and Intuit should be better than this. They need to be better than this.

I am using the TT online version as I have yet to get a downloaded version to run on my Mac running Big Sur 11.2. You can upload your last year's return into it. The experience using the online version is not as good as you are not able to go to the "forms" version and thus it takes longer to input data.

As I have paid for the downloaded version I have been told by a TT person that I can get credit for what I paid for my downloaded version toward the cost of the online version when I am ready to file.

I downloaded TurboTax 2020 using Catalina. I have since updated to Big Sur. When I tried to use TurboTax 2020 a myriad of problems occurred. First it would not copy info from the previous year TurboTax. Then I noticed what I believe to be a calculation error and I tried to look at the Forms directly. They (1040 and worksheets) were all blank. In the question about software cost for this year it flashed a notice that it could not reach the App Store since the WiFi was disconnected. That was not true. I tried to communicate with TurboTax help but got gobble-de-gook. Hopefully someone will get through to TurboTax.

Yes, I'm having trouble running intuit turbo tax 2019 and 2020 programs on iMac Pro with OS Big Sur 11.2. The Turbo Tax program once installed fails to open when trying to launch from applications. What happens is it will flash across the screen and disappear. I spent 6 hours over two days with Turbo Tax support and additional 2 hours with Apple support and both support were unable to resolve the problem. The only suggestion Apple Support had is that I need to back up my iMac and they will guide me to remove operating software Big Sur and reload Catalina. I have ordered an external 1TB disk and when I get ** computer backed up, I'll attempt one more time before moving on to H&R Block Tax Program. Wish me luck.
