Moving Pictures Folder Out From Documents Folder

I have an iMac running High Sierra.

I recently noticed I have 2 Pictures directories:

Macintosh HD - Users - <myname> - Documents - Pictures

and

Macintosh HD - Users - <myname> - Pictures

In the Favorites sidebar, Pictures points to the Documents - Pictures.

I didn't like Pictures being under Documents so I moved all of those pictures out of that directory into the one that simply has <myname> - Pictures.

Is there some reason I shouldn't have done that? I don't know how I wound up with the two Pictures directories but I just want one and I don't want it under Documents. I also see My Videos under Documents. I'm going to move those out as well unless someone tells me it's better to have both of them under Documents.
