my MacBook Air will not recognize my monitor

I just today received my new MacBook Air with the M1 chip, and have been enjoying it, although I've been unable to connect it to my Samsung CJ791 which supports thunderbolt 3. Does anyone know if I'm missing something? To my understanding it is supposed to be supported natively.

Make sure you have the right cable. If the TB3 cable came with the monitor that is the best choice. If not then you need a thunderbolt 3 data cable and not just a charging cable. The cable that came with your charger adapter in the box is a charging cable.

I'm having a similar but not exactly the same problem. I can't get a 4K LG monitor to work with a USB-C to Display port cable. The early M1 MacBook Airs might have a problem with high res monitor support. I can get my old 2560x1440 Thunderbolt Display working with the TB2 to TB3 adapter working without any trouble.
