Homepod mini handoff not working

I purchased this specifically for the handoff feature as working from home I thought it would be pretty cool to be able to hold my phone near it while on call or playing a podcast and have it transfer over without going through the Bluetooth menu but after setting up the homepod mini, it just doesn't work at all. The "transfer to homepod" feature is enabled.

Also, when I tap the top, it just starts playing U2 music but not sure why it does that. What app would that be playing from/ Any way to disable that?

I was able to finally solve this with my HomePod mini and iPhone XS by doing the following: on my phone Settings> WiFi>the network that I am currently connected to and then unchecking Private Address. As soon as I unchecked that the song I was playing popped up that it could be played on the HomePod mini and it seems to have solved the problem. Using the Private address under Wifi prevents tracking but must make it hard for the HomePod to find my phone. Anyway not sure if this has been posted and hope it helps someone.

It should work, aparently someone can do it with their iPhone XS. But for mine, it never worked at all. Even if its on the most recent update

Not really... it is now turned off but the handoff still works. Not sure about the reason though.

I get that, aside I have the latest iPhone 12 Pro Max so it should work. It use to work and since iOS 14.4 it has ceased to work

I bought a homepod mini two nights ago, working fine, I updated both phone and Homepod, handoff won't work anymore

I've tried restarting the toggle for both phones, but still no luck.

I think it's a bug for some cases. Hopefully Apple will resolve this issue with an update soon.

Ah, your insights made sense. U1 UWB is not available in my country - Indonesia yet.

I hope they bring back the NFC method in the next patch.

Same here, I even installed all the recent Beta and the only thing working is Airplay, no NFC or U1 transfer either. And, Like you, it used to work before 14.4 update....

There is no relation between the wifi network and handoff functionality that uses NFC.

I have the same issue with my XS max while my girlfriend has the XS and is working perfectly...
