Homepod mini handoff not working

Same issue here ... I had both my Home Pod Minis arrive today. I use an Iphone XR without any corporate apps or profiles. At first Handoff worked with one and not the other. After a few hours it didnt work for either of them.

Hope that Apple fixes that, I buy the Apple premium because "It just works". Well, it doesnt.

I agree with you!...Just like so many of the other solutions I have read have nothing to do with handoff but for some it fixes it but most of them temporarily. I think its more by chance a coincidence it fixes a persons problem, its not a fix its just a bandaid that will peal off and come back.

I have an iphone 12 pro max and so does my daughter, mine works fine hers doesn’t. I just tested your non Band-aid fix idea and guess what? I turned off the motion and fitness tracking on my phone and my handoff on the homepod mini still works. As I said there are many solutions for different situations for everyone, there are so many variables but this one solution may help some but it didnt do anything for my daughters phones and it this motion and fitness tracking being turned on or off on my phone doesnt make a bit of difference it still works on my phone perfectly so I would say your statement is not accurate regarding the motion and fitness location needing to be on for handoff to work.

Thanks for clarifying but I think you can see my point. Theres so many variables and changes that work for some does not work for all. I think we can all agree theres a much bigger over all problem with the handoff that only Apple can fix with hopefully a software updates. People can be constantly trying to tweak their configs to get it to work and in the process break other features. I honestly suggest just stop wasting time on trying to fix the overall problem that we as the consumer will not be able to fix. I’ll say it again Apple needs to come up with a fix

Agreed. But I can say this. “My” solution came from this forum. After 2 hours on the phone with an apple Sr level specialist, he couldn’t help me. What ultimately got me back up and running was this community forum. But you are correct, Apple should be on top of this.

OMG!! Right after I said it doesn’t work for me, it magically I have done was turning on the fitness tracking as firemedilex said, then turned it off as I thought it wasn’t related. The pan yes it works!!

In my case Handoff and transfer to HomePod used to work beautifully.

14.4 update ruined it, it does not work anymore. Brand new HomePod mini and iPhone 12max pro.

Reset the HomePod, nothing and all settings properly done. Nothing. That's a bummer

Both my iPhone 11 and iPhone 11Pro won't hand off to my Homepod Mini too after updating all devices to 14.4.

Before updating, they still worked. Are there any additional settings that needs to be done?

Thank you, friend. But not helped me. I can tell you handoff worked before on all 14.3. Even with iphone 14.4. worked, but once updated mini to 14.4. it stopped. So I judge the issue occured at mini side.

NFC method is not gone and that’s what older iPhones still use to Handoff to HomePod. It’s just that HomePod mini now supports an “improved” Handoff experience if you have an iPhone 11 or newer. I haven’t been able to get Handoff to work before or after the update with my iPhone 8, which should use NFC to Handoff to HomePod mini. Until Apple addresses the issue, it’s a hit or miss if it works, I think.

I fed up. Tried everything (reset, reload, restore, resoft, reroute, rewifi, reBT, refack, etc). as result, my 11th still transfers only by Airplay. No NFC or U1 transfer, while before ios 14.4 NFC worked well.

At the same time my XR with 14.3 and 14.4 transfers by NFC and Airplay both WHATEWER I did around!

Thanks, friend. I also did 14.5 to HPmini, but no change. Instead, I got problem with stock ambient sounds (ocean, forest, rain, night, etc) - it cuts after 3-5 sec playing (sound cut, but playback goes). Strange, but last ambient sound WhiteNoise works well!

(XR keeps working with mini by NFC after 14.5 to mini).

I have a iPhone 12 Pro Max and having the same issue, handoff just doesn’t work, tried resetting both homepod and phone. Works for a bit then just stops. I often get a message saying the device is at its limit?! There’s only me with an iPhone in my house.

Same problem, I have an iPhone XS Max and I can’t use NFC, just Airplay, it used to work before 14.4, my sister has a XR with 14.4 also, and she can use NFC and Airplay, it’s about iOS or what’s going on?, seriously I’m losing my mind!!

HomePod mini also supports Spotify.
