iPhone 12 Pro Max Issues

Hello, I have been using iPhone 12 Pro Max for a week, and noticed few things.

  1. Volume. I connected my phone to my car and played music. I noticed the volume level is much less than when I connected my XR to the car. I need to turn up the volume much higher somehow on iPhone 12 Pro Max.
  2. I noticed my screen a bit flickering sometimes. I think it happened when it was displaying a page with certain background color.
  3. I also noticed that the phone was very hot when it was idle. It happened in the first couple of days. Hence, the battery drained very fast.

Do you also notice or experience these things on your IPhone 12 Pro Max?

I was having the volume issue as well, and was able to solve it by working with the settings in my car using Car Play. The different inputs have different controls and I needed to go in to setup each one independently - Radio and Media for example. Media - when I connected my iPhone was very quiet and this was a combination of start-up volume and another volume control was also set to 'minimum' by default. Changing these, I can now switch between radio, media, bluetooth/wired connection and get the same audio levels.

I hope this is helpful!

I just received my new iPhone 12 pro max one week ago , I been using for about a week.I notice only one problem, that happened 4 times this week. Suddenly no coverage as far Verizon connection bar, no LTEo or 5 G sign . Every time a happens I have to turn off and turn back for me to get signal. Verizon technical coach, they help me reset my network again and follow back the next day. A keep happening again. I am very frustrated What’s going with my 12 pro max. I decided to return to phone back to Verizon. I am go head start using my old iPhone XR until next year. I am very upset but I can blame nobody’s a could be isolated issues with that iPhone.

I so dissatisfied and disappointed that My iPhone 12pro max has issue. I have already return one iPhone because of issues. Now Mt new iPhone 12pro max is dropping calls like crazy. I dnt understand why so many fail calls. after resetting my iPhone and T-Mobile switching out my sim card to eliminate the issue I still have. Is anyone having these issues.

Apple can u please fix these issues.

I was so excited to get mine and I’ve had nothing but problems since I got it. When I receive a phone call, my phone locks up and goes to a black screen. I can’t even hang up from the phone call, I have to wait until they hang up and then my phone comes back on. When someone replies to one of my text, it doesn’t notify me. And the volume thing has also been an issue.

Yes!! This is my SECOND 12 pro max, and I experienced the same following issues with the first phone... I experience my YouTube not showing it’s news feed (no matter HOW many times I uninstall and install the app or refresh the page) it just refuses to work. My cash app just shuts off randomly, which is detrimental. It flickers sometimes, and I’m just SO over it all. I regret getting this phone.

Update: So far, my second Pro Max 12 seems good. Volume, heat, operation seem as expected.I have one primary complaint that I will start a new conversation:

With my past iPhones I had several options for setting the ‘require passcode’ length, up to 4 hours. With my new iPhone 12 Pro Max my only option is ‘immediately’ (Settings/Face ID & Passcode/Require Passcode/immediately). This makes using the phone very frustrating.

This limited option does not work in the Covid-19, mask wearing era. Face ID does not work wearing a mask. That means I’m required to put in the passcode whenever I want to wake the phone, even if I clicked sleep just seconds ago.

Even without face masks, this does not work if I temporarily give someone my phone to do work for me. I have to either share my passcode so they can use it every time the phone goes to sleep or turn my passcode off, both security risks, and time wasters if the project needs instant access/wakening to accomplish.

If there are no methods or workarounds to accomplish this now please tell developers that removing these options limits a professional device, it does not enhance the product. The options need to be reinstalled for future releases of the operating software.

Thanks for the reply but....

With my iPhone 8+, the phone I used for over 3 years up until two weeks ago I used the Touch ID or Passcode when required by Apple Pay, App Store, my banking app, other money or password required apps but I was still able to keep the Required Passcode to awaken the phone set for 4 hours. I did not have to set the overall setting to immediately. I had the options described in the post.

I hit the sleep/lock button before putting my phone in my pocket so I do not butt dial anyone or hit an app by mistake. Then I awaken/unlock the phone and often need to use it immediately, have my hands full, someone else is using the phone, or am impatient. With a mask on or if someone else is using the phone the passcode has to be entered.

Are you suggesting that I turn off Face ID? Will that bring back options other than 'immediately?'

Did you read what previous poster quoted from Apple Support Manual in the quote block with a link? Obviously not it seems as it’s self explanatory.

It’s an iOS 14 change and has zero to do with your previous phone (that had Touch ID which is long gone from iPhones) what you could do with them in years past.

You can no longer do that if you use Apple Pay or Face ID.

Goof Luck.

I lost my music library when I activated my new iPhone 12 Pro Max. The only music available were the purchases made on iTunes. Per Apple, I had to sync my phone with the iTunes I have on my computer (windows) to get the music back on my phone. I lost at least 3/4 of my music from the iTunes computer library. Thank goodness I had a backup file in my computer because iTunes was unable to locate it with my help. However, iTunes is able to play in on the iTunes playlist from the computer, but not on my phone-it says file not supported! How can this be??? My X was able to play these fine (even had latest iOS update on the X). I am very discouraged, may need to consider replacing it with an Android 🤢 phone ...

The music player on your phone supports the same formats as iTunes does on your computer, so without an example it's very hard to tell you what's going on.

If you sync physical files to your phone via iTunes, there is an implicit assumption that your computer will be the repository for said files and will sync files back to your phone when you connect the two.

Thank you for your explanation. Now I know why I lose my songs every time I upgrade (because they aren’t saved in iCloud). I was finally able to get my songs onto the phone from my computer. As it turns out, I couldn’t do it before because the songs on my playlist were deleted from the main song list. I had deleted some of the original songs because I had duplicates and triplicates on the songs folder. Thank you so much.
