Safari freeze when create a password in safari or reset a password

I want to thank everyone who made suggestions to help do a temporary fix.

One was to turn off auto fill and passwords I believe?

The other was open Safari in privacy mode.

I like auto fill and face ID, so I have some safari windows open in privacy mode, and some without it and just use the privacy mode windows for things that might get bogged down.

I don’t work in technology or so much need my machines for work. However, it’s appalling that Apple has Let this go on for so long. Time to consider a new laptop soon and it might not be a Mac. And then I suppose for continuity I will get a new phone that is not from Apple. And then I’ll get rid of the Apple TV?

If FaceTime weren’t so convenient and if my family didn’t all use Apple products. Then I wouldn’t hesitate. This doesn’t bode well for the future problems if things that really could cost people money and time don’t get fixed in an expeditious manner by Apple.

I have this problem also. I am unable to use passport reset links from my email (for various accounts, whether banking, memberships or banking) to reset my password. It opens the link but I cannot type in any information into the dialogue boxes to enter my password. Then it freezes the screen and I have to keep closing Safari and each time I open it have to quickly close the tab or it freezes again on the screen originally created from the link. This is for multiple reset links and is not related to any one provider.

Seriously, there still isn’t a fix for this? I have the same issue on my 12 Pro Max. They’ve done a few security updates on the latest iOS and it’s still not working. I have the exact same issue described. IPhone freezes when I go to create a password. I’ve noticed it does eventually work but it’s like 1-5 minutes to enter each field.

I also have the same problem on both iPhone and iPad after most recent update

Lmao and greg from apple bragging about how fast safari is and yet it freezes up when I am trying to create an account or when I’m trying to change my password on multiple websites.

I either use DuckDuckGo or go to my iMac. It is frustrating when you need to change a forgotten password to access a critical website.

By the way, the current fix is to use Private Browsing. This problem does NOT affect Private Browsing...

How do you create a ticket? I ended up going through a support chat with no resolution. I also posted on the feedback page: https://www.apple.com/feedback/safari.html

Anything else I should do?

I actually think doing the two factor authentication worked for me. As well as the private browser. But the signing in to Apple ID is still annoying

The point is to use auto fill. I like auto fill and I use it. And it worked before 14. Now it doesn’t because it freezes the device. It does still work on other browsers however.

Still having this issue. Seems to be Safari. DuckDuckGo works fine.

Some of my users reporting that this still happens with iPadOS 14.5.1.

Hi can you explain what you mean by wider issue sorry I’m not very technical in this I can only tell you what’s happened in my case and that was as soon as I updated to iOS 14.2 on iPad and phone the problem started

I'm seeing this behaviour in Safari on both my iPhone on iOS 14.2 and MacBook Pro on macOS Big Sur 11.0.1. This is so frustrating. It's happened to me so many times now. Each time it happens I have to use Chrome to reenter all my info and add all the items back in my cart. This is ridiculous. I've tried turning off autofill entirely in Safari and it still doesn't work. HELP Apple. I'm really fed up.

Same. Trying to change FB and PayPal passwords on safari but screen just froze. Not a problem until update. Super frustrating. Have to close safari a couple of times to be able to make page disappear. Very annoying. Apple please fix this ASAP!!! Happening on both iPhone and iPad.
