macOS Big Sur - HP Print Driver

Hello -

Updated to macOS Big Sur from Catalina. Had tons of issues including fan running non-stop and CPU being maxed out. As a result had to intall macOS Big Sur clean from a USB and since it has been OK. I am still having one issue and that is printing! Where are the HP Print Drivers? I don't have AIRPRINT on an enterprise printer LaserJet CP4025 (color laser) with a duplexer and multiple trays.

Apple shows the HP Printer Drivers v5.1 for OS X, download but that is NOT VALID for macOS Big Sur.

How is this going on in 2020 with a brand new OS? Apple is turely dropping the ball and HP is blaming Apple. We the consumers just go in circles. This needs to be corrected.

UPDATE!

I got this to work... Thanks to some other posters but I will post how to do it here as well. Apple is not providing drivers anymore via System Update, and HP is not offering drivers via their support site. They want you to use AirPrint, however if you printer doesn't support AirPrint or is an ENTERPRISE model you are SOL.

You need (2) files to make this work. The first is:

1 - HP Printer Drivers v5.1 for OS X @ https://support.apple.com/kb/dl1888?locale=en_US

This is where we got drivers for HP and many other printer in the past. However it wont install in macOS Big Sur

2 - You need a 3rd party software called Pacifist by Charles Soft. This is free via: https://www.charlessoft.com/cgi-bin/pacifist_download.cgi?type=dmg

You essentially open the package via Pacifist and it allows you to install the old printer package on your macOS Big Sur machine and you get your printers back with all the settings, not a generic post script without duplex support, or additional trays!

Bravo to the community. Apple really needs to get this corrected asap. This is a huge SNAFU that people should not be struggling with.

Good luck!
