Connect a Mac with Thunderbolt 1 to a Mac with Thunderbolt 2

I have a 2012 MB Pro Retina with two Thunderbolt-1 ports and a 2015 iMac with two Thunderbolt-2 ports.

I am trying to physically connect the two Macs so I can move large files between them via a cable instead of by WiFi.

Is it possible to connect these two Macs with some sort of Thunderbolt cable and, if so, which kind?

Many thanks.

An Apple Thunderbolt cable:

TB1 and TB2 have the same plug. Boot one Mac in target disk mode.
