Can't copy web image and paste into messages after Big Sur upgrade.

Just like the title says. I used to be able to copy an image from a website or page, Facebook for example, and then directly paste into an imessage on my Mac. Since the upgrade, this went away. Why?

Agreed. It works fine from Safari but not Chrome. "Paste" is grayed out in the popup menu when coming from Chrome. I can, however, crtl-v and that works. It is clear the image made it safely to the clipboard but Big Sur is treating them differently for some reason.

Mine used to not Ctrl+V paste either. It worked today, so far at least. The only thing that changed is that I updated my iOS on my phone to 14.3.

The iPhone and the Mac’s copy/paste are connected. I wonder if that has something to do with it. Someone either on this board or another had luck when they connected their iPhone to their MBP. That didn’t work for me though.

I fixed my issue finally today! Not sure exactly what the fix was, but it appears my login for the cloud was different than my phone and computer.. so I changed the password in the cloud to match the Mac and phone. Shut

Down the computer again and and logged into the messages again and did the sign of the cross and sent an image and it worked. Sooooo annoying. Till next time Btw this is not the first time I had to deal with this but surely the hardest to fix!

Haha @jonrowland... Apple always subtracts (headphone jacks etc...). The fact that it does work in Safari tells me they have made changes to the clipboard in a proprietary way so now we are even MORE locked in to all things Apple. Lightning connectors, iMessage, Apple Pay, only texting from a Mac OS, etc... All things get us to buy more apple products because they work with other Apple products and rarely with a 3rd party. Apple wouldn't take away cruise control, they would make a proprietary cruise control which can only be controlled through an iPhone and call it iCruise.

Why has nobody from Apple addressing this??

I was pestered constantly to upgrade to Big Sur version release, to the point where I did it just to stop that constant annoyance.

When I did, there is no obvious (to me), yet this is the first thing I cam across.'

I have worked in SW Product Validation for over 20 years. There is a name for this (Lost Functionality) and it is a GOLDEN RULE to NOT take away existing functionality (add all you want - NO subtraction!) Does GM come and take your Cruise Control feature away from a car you bought and paid for?? I don't think so. so STOP doing that, and PLEASE reply to all these users who have been similarly affected. Just answer the question.

Do <command><c> (copy) and <command><v> (paste) work for you?

If so, I need to create my support item elsewhere.

I am having an issue where copy/paste images on Mac to messages will not send to non-iPhone users. Since it is using MMS it requires a data connection so it routes through my iPhone. When the message fails to send, I notice on the iPhone that the image is listed as tiff format instead of the initial jpeg that was pasted from the Mac.
