Printers compatible with Big Sur

Does anyone know where I can find a list of printers compatible with Big Sur? Have just updated OS and old printer no longer supported. When I shop for a new printer, none list Big Sur as compatible OS.

iMac 21.5″, macOS 10.15

Hi Rudegar. I just purchased a Lexmark B3340. Can't figure out if there's any way to print to it from my MacBook Pro 2017 w/ Big Sir. Trying to install universal Lexmark installer and it gives me error (the volume doesn't meet requirements...). The web seems to think it'll work if I use AirPrint, but I'm struggling to get that figured out because the Lexmark won't let me even enter my routers full address before it closes it out. If I can't figure this out fast, it's got to go back to the store and then I've got to try to figure out if there's another Lexmark that'll actually work on a Mac. Thank you!!!!

I have the same HP Photosmart C4780 printer, and the same problem. I do not have drivers. HP does not have drivers on their website for Mac OS after 10.9. This is a major inconvenience! I understand the OS update, I understand I may have to download new drivers. I don't understand that there are no available drivers which will work with Apple's new OS. Please suggest solutions?

Thank you very much Jan. I was able to get the printer connected to our Wi-Fi, and now it's showing up as the only printer on my computer - but no matter what I send to the printer, I get nothing but blank pages (except for what looks like smeared toner in various areas). I even tried the WPS instructions - pressing the WPS button on my router, following the WPS instructions on the printer itself. I can not figure out what I'm doing wrong and I'm probably going to have to take it back to the store, unless someone has an idea of where I'm going wrong.

Hi,

Just to avoid any misunderstanding, I assume that you are not trying to print via a universal driver from the printer manufacturer. The idea is to print without a driver, through AirPrint. Since you have used WPS, the connection (to the Wi-Fi router) should be OK now.

When adding on the Mac, I guess that your printer has been chosen and appears in the Add window. Does "Use:" show "AirPrint"?

If necessary, if you have access to an iPhone or iPad, you could also check whether the printer appears as a selectable AirPrint printer when you make an attempt to print from that device (Use AirPrint to print from your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch – Apple Support).

Hello JustPlainSylviaW,

Many thanks for the information.

Good news! Glad to hear that you can use the printer again.

Yes, with a working system, it is really not necessary to be among the first to upgrade. After a couple of months, many of the initial problems have been solved, and one can decide whether to install the new version, or perhaps wait for the next major upgrade...

Kind regards,

Jan

So Apple has gone to great lengths to stop shipping extraneous power supplies and earphones with their products to improve their GREEN credentials . With the Big Sur printer issues listed below 1000's of perfectly functional printers will be scrapped ! Surely Apple should work to fix this problem URGENTLY for all the right reasons?

The Canon webpage is detecting OS as Catalina v10.15, while the actual OS is Big Sur 11.1.

The driver Mac-UFRIILT-CARPS2LBP-v157-00.dmg is supposed to support OS 11 as evidenced by this string:

[Mac] UFRII LT Printer Driver Ver.1.5.7 (Mac OS : 10.10/10.11/10.12/10.13/10.14/10.15/11.0)

The first time I tried to install this driver, I was asked to install Rosetta, and I did that.

But when I try to run the Canon driver installer downloaded from Canon USA webpage, I get a message saying this driver is not compatible.

Thanks much for your help!
