Printers compatible with Big Sur

Does anyone know where I can find a list of printers compatible with Big Sur? Have just updated OS and old printer no longer supported. When I shop for a new printer, none list Big Sur as compatible OS.

Hello iaincrow,

If printing to an AirPrint printer is not working from a computer and all iPhones, you may want to investigate whether something is wrong with the wireless connection and/or the Wi-Fi router configuration (providing that you are using a router in an infrastructure mode setup).

Try to turn off (power off) the router, the printer, the computer, and all iPhones. Wait two or three minutes. Then power on the router. After another minute or two, power on the printer. Finally, turn on the computer and the iPhones.

Which exact Canon printer model is it?

I see your point this expensive and frustrating experience has caused me to raise several questions.

1) how open is Apple with the various printer manufacturers i.e. do they get notice of this and can they access the things they need to make the change?

2) Did Apple roughly actually know (or care) how many people this has adversely impacted? What percentage of those are now working from home? The impact it had on them?

3) where are the instructions to roll back to Catalina?(I’d far rather be able to use my existing printer and scanner than have icons with rounded edges.)

4)why was there no clear prior warning

that this would happen?

5)given the issues my Mac has caused me in the year I own it how loyal do I still feel to the company

But I know no one will ever answer these questions. Apple does not care and will just blame others. I do care but have no recourse to anything viable action other than buying a new printer and new scanner. My grandkids will be getting fewer Christmas presents.

Having similar problems to those described. My HP5610 all in one office jet printer worked fine. After I updated to MacOS Big Sur, could mot print, kept getting an error message that would damage my computer etc... After checking the internet, was told to 'uninstall' my printer, which I did. Have tried to re install since but no drivers available from HP, does not recognize BigSur etc... Decided to shop for a new printer ( !!!! yes...). Found HP Deskjet 3755 just the right size etc,, but HP keeps telling me it does not work with MacOS Big Sur..... says this printer is 'AirPrint' .... can I print with it even if HP does not use MacOS Big Sur ? Any help very welcome... Thanks

Since BigSur, when I look in ‘Printers’ there is no printer to select. The first time I tried to download the highest number software from Brother (MacOS11I think it was called) nothing happened. Yesterday, I tried again and it downloaded and opened. I set the printer to wireless but while it tried to join, it failed. The wireless signal was strong. The instructions on screen suggested a USB cable (as I was using before) but also did not register.

I do not know how to reset the printing system but have assumed if there is no printer showing in preferences this is an unnecessary step.

Hi Jan:

Thank you very much for your response. The Samsung was connected to the USB port on my time capsule, so I could not see the Scan button on the "Printers and Scanners" dialog box. Once I connected the scanner directly to my Mini, the Scan button showed up and I was able to scan. Is this the only way I will be able to use the scanner? Having only 2 USB ports on the Mini is a challenge to begin with, having to use one exclusively for my logitech mouse and the other now for the scanner doesn't leave any open for anything else. Thank you in advance for your help.
