After switching iPhone on get a message locking the screen saying : “allow public 00:00:00:00:00:00 to display your iPhone notifications “. Have “Allow” or “don’t allow” options, but neither unlocks the screen. Has anyone else experienced the same ?

Same issue occurred on my Dad's phone in the last 24hours. Applying 14.2.1 did not resolve, in fact it caused the brick screen on rebooting after applying update.

Did apple do something server side in the last 24hours? There is another report over on Macrumors, that started in the last 24hours.

Here's what worked for me. YMMV.

  1. Turn off bluetooth so you can control your phone.
  2. Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings to get rid of the message coming back.
  3. Turn bluetooth back on.
  4. For me, from here my phone stopped being able to receive network data (successfully connected to both 5G and LTE networks, but no data coming in or going out).
  5. Uninstall (and later reinstall) any VPN you have enabled. Not 100% sure how much this impacted things but my advice is to try this before moving to the next step.
  6. Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings

And boom... fixed. Everything working normally. The good part? I was able to avoid Erase All Content and Settings and a full restore. The bad part? This is still a PITA and you have to reconfigure everything after Reset All Settings.

I hope this helps anyone who is encountering this super frustrating issue!
