4th Gen 2020 M1 Mac mini bluetooth issues with Magic Mouse2

Just got the brand new Mac mini (M1, 2020 8gb and 256gb - macOS big sur 11.0.1). The bluetooth connection between my Magic Mouse 2 and the mini drops during use (2-3 times an hour). The drop is very odd too - it always drops twice in quick fashion (it drops, I wiggle the mouse and click, it reconnects then immediately drops where I wiggle/click again and it connects for a longer period of time).

I worked with apple support who had me remove the plist files, but after rebooting I ran into the same issues. Any advice?

I have the mini connected via usb c cable to my acer 27" monitor. I use the same mouse, keyboard, monitor, and cable to connect to my 2018 MacBookpro 13 (Mac OS Catalina 10.15.7) and have never had issues. I even plugged in the MacBookpro after getting my mini to see if it was happening there again - nope. It's only the mini.

I agree; I've gone 24 hours now since the last upgrade (and upgraded both iphone and Apple Watch), and no issues so far. First time I've been able to use the computer for a full day since I received it!

I also received the Asus BT500 dongle today, but will hold off on trying it since things are working so far (and don't want to mess it up).

Keeping my fingers crossed, but so far so good!

Has anyone else noticed bluetooth devices being removed from user accounts when a second user signs in? My wife and I both have our own user accounts and iCloud accounts. When she signs in to her user account on the Mac her AirPods go on to my account and delete my Beats Solo Pro headphones from my iCloud account. I am going mad trying to figure it out.

Apple engineering just emailed me this morning to ask for additional feedback regarding the BT connection issue. I am guessing that even after 11.2 RC3, the engineers either are still receiving BT bug feedback, or want to be confident that 11.2 RC3 and iOS 14.4 have fixed the issues. I did report some Apple Community members encountering mouse & keyboard lag even after updating to 11.2 RC3, iOS 14.4, and WatchOS.

Well, two days without any mouse disconnect/connect/disconnect/connect, and keyboard seems to be working reliably as well.

Maybe this last upgrade helped, along with upgrading to the latest Apple Watch and iOS software.

I'm getting optimistic that they may have fixed this. How is everyone else doing? Have you upgraded to the latest beta, as well as watch and iphone software if applicable?

I have a similar issue with my 3 week old M1 Mini. My bluetooth will sometimes stop working when the mini goes to sleep. The only resolution was too reboot. This morning it couldn't get it to wake so I tried the reboot. Still no luck. I had a spare wireless mouse that I could get to work however when it came time to type my password into the login screen my Apple bluetooth keyboard (it's a seven year old model) would not respond so I was stuck. I tried rebooting, resetting SMC, unplugging all the peripherals, all of the known troubleshooting procedures and still no luck. I then called Apple support and they too could not help to troubleshoot because I needed a keyboard to get beyond the login screen.

I went to plan B and went to my local Target and bought a $10 Logitech USB keyboard. I plugged it in and was finally able to enter my password. I then was able to re-establish my bluetooth connections to my mouse and keyboard. I will be keeping the $10 keyboard just in case this happens again. Bluetooth issues with Big Sur appears to be an issue according the the research I did. APPLE, THIS UNACCEPTABLE! FIX IT!

I have been using the Asus BT-400 adapter for weeks with very good results. Everything worked except for the watch unlock, which I don't care about. I have now installed the 14.2 release that just became available and will monitor for any issues. Hopefully I do not have to go back to the external adapter. Will monitor for a few days and report back.

Several glitches on the install, My LG 4K monitor went berserk during the installation, but I just let it cook for awhile and eventually came back to show the install status. Also after removing my BT-400 and restarting, none of my Apple BT devices connected until I plugged them into the mac mini. Once that was done they connected just fine. Probably an artifact from running not he external adapter. No big deal as several restarts confirmed they would connect each time after that.

I just installed macOS 11.2.

First thing I noticed is I was able to enter my password over Bluetooth, without having to plug in a USB cable to the Magic Keyboard 2. THIS ONE ISSUE IS FIXED — I was never able to do this before.

Everything else is working well, including my BT Magic Trackpad 2 to BT speaker. But it has only been 2 hours, so as you all know from experience, I'll need to keep on watching this and report back after some time has passed.

Note: The Bluetooth Explorer app seems to have been further degraded, as the only part that seems to (possibly) work is the log window. The graphs, etc. are not functional. And even the (only) entry in the log is reported in UTC, not local time.

Installed BS 11.2 today (installed iOS/iPadOS 14.4 on all devices yesterday) and sad to say it doesn't make any difference. Still experience a lagging Apple Magic Mouse (to the extent it makes editing a picture, for example, when I need precise positioning, virtually impossible).

What I also noticed is that Bluetooth Explorer only reports link quality for my Apple Keyboard and not for my trackpad and mouse. Very strange.
