The current Dec 2020 download of the HP Printer Drivers v5.1 for macOS has a driver in it for the HP Color Laserjet CP 2020 series. As HP provided no drivers after Mavericks for this device, this may be your only hope of using this printer.
Once you have downloaded and installed this package, and with the laserjet powered and connected to your Mac, visit System Preferences : Printers & Scanners panel and right-click on your printer entry, choosing Reset printing system… . This will allow you to remove and re-add your printer, where you would select the CP 2020 series driver, and re-add the printer. Try to print something.

Hi Viking appreciate your assistance. I have a HP Color LaserJet CP 2025 Printer, SN CNGS415998, Product Number: CB495A that stopped working when I installed Mac OS 11. I have searched high and low w/o success. HP's site https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c05900790 takes me to "HP LaserJet - Older HP printers with macOS drivers"
which lists "NOTE: Before installing the driver, use the information below to make sure the printer is compatible and that you are using an install connection that the printer supports.
... but no mention OS 11. and when I download the dmg and attempt to open the package I get an alert "this volume doesn't not meet the requirements for this update".
My conclusion is that this is a legacy 32 bit product that is not going to function on 64 bit architecture. No notes on the web site anywhere that I can find. (I will admit that one time long ago the solution was right in front of me and my parents said "Son if it was a snake it would have bitten you!" So I am hoping that is again the case and not that, once again, progress has moved on leaving my trusted printer at the station. Your thoughts?
As fellow users, and not Apple badged staff, we don't respond to ASAP instructions. When you provide the full model name and number of your printer, we may be able to determine if it is an HP driver signature issue; or if HP supports your printer, either at all, or just not on Big Sur.
Once I update to MacPro OS BigSur v 11.0.1 the HP printer color laserjet pro MFP M281fdw stopped working. After reloading the driver via the CD that came with the printer, it now takes hours before printer to start printing. IS there an update for the new operating system? What may I try to get this printer to print ?
Thanks...LUKE
I found nothing for Mac OS 11.1 on that website. Also, try reaching a human to talk to. Impossible, frustrating, and a waste of time. I now have to buy a new printer, hoping that it will be compatible with my upgraded operating system. Can't believe I'll purchase an HP again. Reaching someone for a simple yes or no answer is like pi--ing in the wind!

Go to HP's website and download the latest driver, macOS 11.0 for you model.
Note: I found that page by Googling "laserjet pro MFP M281fdw driver". Try it sometime.
I used DuckDuckGo, found what was needed. Thanks.
Wish I could say anything other than I agree w you.
Same issue here. I have HP Color LaserJet 3600 series. Dead in the water after my upgrade to BigSur. No help from HP or Apple. May have to buy a newer laserjet.
