How to set screen resolution to 2560x1600?

I have a Retina MBP 13" late 2013. I noticed that when I plugged my extended HP 27f 4K monitor, I can no longer use the max screen resolution on my MBP which is 2560x1600. Even when I unplugged my extended monitor, I don't hav in my display preference the option to use 2560x1600.

Any thoughts? How can I set my resolution to 2560x1600 again?

... and is that with the external display attached, or not?

According to Apple's specs on this notebook:

Graphics and Video Support

  • Dual display and video mirroring: Simultaneously supports full native resolution on the built-in display and up to 2560 by 1600 pixels on up to two external displays, both at millions of colors

Which is telling me that one or two external displays can be supported, but only at 2560 x 1600 each, not 4K. If possible, you should change your HP to operate at this resolution when connected to your notebook to see if this resolves this issue.
