Final Cut Pro Sound Effects Missing

Hi there!

Did you remove your iMovie app by any chance? If so, that could be the issue.

I find that after re-installing iMovie, the sound effects for the final cut pro trial version came back.

Please note that The final cut pro trial version doesn't have the actual Final Cut Pro Sound Effects folder and effects itself, so that sound effects you're seeing via Final Cut Pro app is actually coming from iMovie.

The Additional content is normally a download that you access from the Final City Pro menu. Not sure if it’s available for the trial version.

Not sure about that in 10.5.

I think the VO was not available in previous versions.

I would imagine things are the same.

I won’t have time to download the trial on a Mac for several days.

If I get motivated to do that I’ll post back.

I have just tested the Trial and found that the VO will work.

Also found that FCP X Sound Effects are there.

I'm thinking the info on the Additional Content may need an update.

Haven’t you already had the App Store version of FCP installed on your system? That will change how the trial version behaves.

Wow. You're probably right Al. Maybe the did restore that functionality in the 10.5 trial version. Nobody would say anything of course. Thanks for testing.

You may be right on that Tom.

I used a clean install of Big Sur on a seperate boot drive and a fresh copy of FCP X 10.5.

Do you think that it may be reading from the System drive?

I made sure it was ejected during the test.

Unless someone jumps on with a definite yes or no on this, I will do a clean install on my Mac and try it so there can be no cross talk between drives.

I haven't performed a 100% clean install for a few OS upgrades, so it's about time in any case.

Of the folder isn’t there you could try redownloading it. If you have iMovie there are also additional effects and jingles that load in FCP from that application.

I don't have a system without FCP so it's hard for me to tell. Th trial version has different capabilities on my system, like sound effects.
