iTunes is not supported on Big Sur. You should look elsewhere in the thread for advice on the possible workaround, or learn to use the replacement apps that are provided. See What happened to iTunes? - Apple Support, the advice there applies equally to Big Sur as it does to Catalina.

Seems to me that Itunes is seperated in 2 apps Music and apple tv.. I got it configured finally and it is working great for me..
So no more Itunes....

Thank you sir. Done got it and it works fine. Unfortunately, Big Sur won't let me make iTunes the default audio file opener, so stuck with Musuck for that.
Of course Big Sur won't let you make an application that doesn't exist on the platform the default audio file opener.
Unfortunately the keyboard play and track change keys links to it too. Bummer, but glad I got iTunes back. Music was absolutely worthless for searching through 90 days of audio files.
Music is almost identical to the music parts of iTunes. All they did was remove the video and iOS management features to separate applications. Now, I'm quite willing to entertain the notion that neither iTunes nor Music are especially good applications.
Unfortunately apple is not going to support this. I did find a few YouTube videos exposing his you can do it but alas they don’t work. iTunes just keeps crashing on my M1 Mac mini. Guess we just have to wait.
I hate the Music and TV apps. They are slow and have lost all artwork and some descriptions to my library. It’s so stupid that apple had done this. As a huge apple supporter since the Early 80’s I am extremely disappointed.

I am not answering the same question over and over again. Yes you can. I am running iTunes on both Catalina and Big Sur.
Look at the thread or Google search it. I am not posting again and getting my posts removed when I give specific instructions.
I am now unfollowing this thread.
The child has blocked the iPad. To unblock it you need to download itunes. itunes Not supported after upgrading to big sur . How to unlock it now?
iTunes is built into the music app. From what I can tell there is no actual app for iTunes. But if I’m wrong please help.
Thank you for the advice - have downloaded Retroactive and am now downloading iTunes. Very helpful.

It's not on Apple support page. You will have to Google search for it. There are Youtube videos explaining how to do it. I did it and it doesn't run. Others may have better luck. I'm on an M1 MacMini.

I have no experience of downloading music to my iMac (Big Sur) and would like to try something from iTunes Store. How would this be done please?
See Search for music in Music on Mac - Apple Support, and the section Search iTunes Store.

everything is much easier.
you can now unblock the iPad through the Finder
just doing the same actions as in iTunes
Yes you can. Edit info on the relevant files and make iTunes the default.
Google it. I had my post edited last time I posted. It’s easy and works on both Catalina and Big Sur for those who loathe Music
