Error while printing message

Hi guys

Trying to print on my MacBook Pro and keep getting the pop up box "Error while printing". It says the same no matter what I am trying to print.

I've just recently installed Big Sur and this is the first time I've tried to print.

I've tried to add a new printer but keep getting the message:

"An error occurred while trying to add the selected device.

successful-ok-ignored-or-substituted-attributes"

Because of this I've not tried to remove and install the printer again as I can't add it.

The printer works as I've plugged it into the Windows PC and works perfectly fine.

I've entered safe mode and tried and it still doesn't work. I have been told to reset the SMC but I don't actually know what that does 😂

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Cheers

MacBook

Hi captainpinoy,

It looks like your unable to print from your current printer and when you try to add a new printer you get an error. Being able to print from your Mac is a great option when you need a hard copy of a document or try to print a photos. We're glad you reached out for help.

Are both printers listed as compatible as AirPrint enabled devices here:

About AirPrint

When you set up the printer were there any drivers installed from the manufacturer? Have you checked to make sure that those are up to date?

Update printer software on Mac

When adding the new printer follow the steps in the link below to add it in System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.

We hope this helps. Have a good day!
