Mac Mini m1 bluetooth problems

Hi, I just got the new Mac mini M1 and from day one I have had big problems with the bluetooth connection. The computer is within an arms reach and has problems staying connected to my Magic Keyboard. It turns on and off. Several times. I even tried placing the keyboard on top of the Mini with out any difference. Some times I have to connect a wired keyboard just to log in. Sometimes the Magic Mouse also has problems. When using both with my old MacBook Pro 2010 they work perfectly.

There is nothing connected to the Mac mini other the the power and there is no ruter nearby that could interfere. The keyboard has fresh batteries also.

It looks like others also have this problem. Is there any one that has a fix. This is really frustrating.

Best regards

Mac mini, macOS 11.0

I watched a youtube video that tells us to hold "shift + option" and click the Bluetooth icon, we will see an option "factory reset all connected Apple devices". Click that option.

Also, I changed my wifi router from 2.4 GHz to 5GHz, the connection issue seems gone...my devices haven't disconnected again

So In decided to remove the dongle and see if my watch would unlock my computer with the regular bluetooth. Worked at first and now it won't. I see it flash the unlocking with watch text briefly but it does not unlock it. So computer seems to be getting worse. When I had the dongle connected it wouldn't flash the text, it would just do nothing when I wiggled the mouse until I clicked it to put in the password.

Sucks!

I'm having terrible problems with new Mac mini M1. Keyboard and mouse and sound keep dropping out.

Today when I woke the system it had lost the Magic Mouse keyboard and was trying to re-pair... Could only get it working by connecting via USB and then re-paring.

Then my AirPods crapped out and were unlistenable.... Had to connect a wired keyboard and mouse and then OK for a while.

Yesterday the system wouldn't unlock using Apple Watch.... Said ' Signal too weak' even though I was next to Mac mini.

Also had problem were USB webcam causes system to freeze up.... Unplug it and then all Ok again. Doesn't do this every time.

Going to be sending this back very soon.

I have the same problem here.... been running the New 13" mac book pro (16g ram and 1THD) for about a week now. all three of my bluetooth audio devices will not hold and cycle every 10 or 15 seconds to connected and not connected. I have original air pods, a set of air pods pro, and also Aftershocks blue tooth. all three don't work. this is very frustrating!!!

All three of these devices have worked flawlessly with my previous 13" Maxed out 2012 Mac book pro. (all the way through Mohave). never had any problems with bluetooth connections and holding the connections. Same with iPhones and also with iPad Pro.... all those work just great.

I even disconnected (forget this device) to all of my other devices in case it was trying to jump. Not a real fix.

I selected (de-checked) auto wake up with blue tooth. I tried so many things that were suggested and nothing has even come close to working.

Being hardwired with headphones is a real drag while I'm at work trying to get work done and I don't want to subject my colleagues with my audio choices via speaker blasting them! : (

No OS reinstall for me and frankly I would have told them no.

Did SMC reset, deleted some files, tried different mice, created a test user account etc. I had already had some help via the chat app the day before and then did the live call yesterday. I think it helped that the disconnect - connect - disconnect - connect happened while we were talking. For me it's only the mouse.

Hi,

I have the same problems with the connection of my Apple Keyboard, Magic Mouse and Trackpad.

I contacted Apple support and they told me to check it in safe mode and with a new user and if that didn’t help reinstall Big Sur.

She told me that Apple is not working on any solution because they don’t have the problem on their issue-list!!

Please report the problem to Apple support (if you haven't already) so they do know it exists!! (my mouse disconnected while typing this message!)

Thank you very much, regards, Guy

I have the same, infuriating, issue.

On my M1 Mac mini it's the Magic Keyboard that starts my frustration...

When its asleep I can wake the Mac by pressing a key on the keyboard. This wakes it instantly but by the time I get to typing in a password, the keyboard has disconnected. I don't get the HUD warning, but I definitely can't type anything. After about 20 seconds, it suddenly begins to work.. BUT...

Once fully awake, I find that the Magic Mouse is not working!!!

Again, after about 20 seconds or so, it "Magically" reconnects and all is OK... BUT

I continue to get random disconnects and re-connects as well as interrupted audio when streaming Bluetooth Audio.

I was hoping the Big Sur 11.1 would provide the bug fix, but it didn't.

Ho hum...

Yes but, turning off a much needed feature just to get another feature to work is not the solution. All of the advertised functions should work - especially when they worked perfectly before Apple started tinkering with the hardware and software.

If I did this, I would need to install a 10 meter run of Ethernet cable and drill holes through three walls, just to get something that used to work just fine, to work again.

Yes, I agree. I have not tried turning off WiFi as that simply substitutes a no keyboard/mouse problem, for a no Internet problem.

my logic is simply this: I did not have any problems with a Mac mini, magic keyboard and Magic Mouse before. So I should not have a problem with the new Mac mini, magic keyboard and Magic Mouse now. It’s not like I’m using non Apple products, or a whole plethora of Bluetooth connected accessories simultaneously. It’s just a computer, keyboard and mouse, all from the same manufacturer and all using the same manufacturers software and firmware.

I just don’t understand how I can use the keyboard to wake from sleep, but be unable use it to enter the password.

instead of “It just works.” We seem to have moved to “It might work... sometimes!”
