OK, hopefully that is big enough.
From what you describe it seems all you need to do is what that last screenshot says: return to the first screen: OS X Utilities. Select Disk Utility, and do what it says. What happens then?
There is no assistant that tells me what to do next in disk utilities.
Now I’m seeing an apple logo with process bar. It’s processing slowly.
A USB stick is going to be painfully slow & unreliable.
Following the instructions in the screenshot you posted is all the assistance it can provide.
It was replaced a week ago. I did see your link earlier. Thanks for providing that. What size Ext drive would you recommend?
Depends on your workload & habits, I'd say 1 or 2 TB.. it can always be used on another Mac if it turns out to be the Logic Board.
Just a Month seems to short for a drive to fail.
Good idea, could be a loose cable on the Laptops.
Should be OK, just not recommend, we can wotk on that later if still a problem. :)
