The new Mac Mini (M1) has been ordered. It will be arriving in 2-3 weeks. Now I am looking for a monitor and a mount.
Ideally I would like to mount the Mac Mini on the back of the monitor. That way I will have the same real estate as my current iMac.
A couple of questions before I spring for a vesa monitor - would heating be an issue if I mounted the Mac Mini on the back of a monitor? Will the HDMI connection channel the audio to the monitor’s speakers?
Multi-channel sound is output through the M1 mini HDMI 2.0 port, and its dimensions, as stated, are identical to the previous generation mini. My M1 mini remains cold to the touch after using it all day long, so I suspect you won't encounter heat issues with yours either.

Depends on the monitor. Some generate a little heat from top or side vents, but note that the mount also provides an air space between the Mac Mini and monitor.
If I am not mistaken the M1 Mac Mini has the same dimensions as the previous one. So there are plenty of mounts that should work with it and attach to the back of monitor with a VESA mount.
Thanks, I did read that the Mac Mini runs cool. My worry is more about heat generated by the monitor affecting the Ma Mini. Does a monitor back get hot/warm? As I don’t have a monitor I was wondering if anyone who have monitors can tell me about their experience.

I have ordered the Sabrent mini mount. It will get here around the same time as the Mac Mini.
Any recommended monitors? I read somewhere that many monitors make Mac fonts look bad, or at least not as good.

Best bet is to go with a USB-C and/or HDMI Display.

Also it depends on how you plan to use the Mac Mini and Monitor. IMHO desktop work is best done on smaller 21.5" to 32" displays, while games and movies are better on larger displays.
